The ad was posted on The Atlantic‘s Tumblr on Friday. <del>Unfortunately, it doesn’t include details on whether the gig is paid or not</del> The post has been updated to say it’s a paid, year-long job based in Washington, D.C. This is a great opportunity to get some hands-on social media and video experience at a great publication.

In addition to emailing over a resume, the editors would also “love to see the following”:

Your Twitter / Tumblr / Vimeo / YouTube / etc. pages

Anything cool you’ve made recently

A video someone else made that you think is great

A blog that you think is awesome

A meme that you think is awesome

A GIF that you think is awesome

To apply, send your resume and a cover letter to video@theatlantic.com.

Apply Today For The Reuters Journalism Trainee Program

The Reuters Journalism Trainee Program is currently seeking candidates for their 2012 initiative. “The Reuters Journalism Trainee Program will bring together a talented group of journalists and journalists-to-be from around the world and provide them with nine months of intensive classroom training and hands-on, real-world experience in London, New York and Singapore”, according to an announcement on the Reuters website.

“Trainees will be paid during the program and then moved into staff positions provided performance standards are met. And they’ll be assigned to mentors to help guide their career with Reuters.”

Reuters currently employs over 3,000 journalists in 200 bureaus worldwide. This year, the London-based Trainee Program has expanded to include New York and Asia, which ups the stakes for being accepted into the highly competitive program. Trainees will get experience both in the classroom and on the newsroom floor, and Reuters will offer 15 jobs for trainees that successfully complete the program according to Stephen Adler, Reuters editor-in-chief.

While the program is geared towards journalists, you don’t necessarily need to be a journalist in order to apply. Reuters is looking for recent graduates, working journalists, or anyone with a specialist background that is looking to start a new career with the world’s largest international multimedia news provider. Applicants must be fluent in English, although advanced proficiency with another language is a plus. Expertise in data analysis and programming, as well as a visual eye and experience with multimedia, are definite advantages for applicants.

Applications are due on December 31, 2011 for the Reuters Journalism Trainee Program. To apply, visit the Reuters website at http://careers.thomsonreuters.com/Students/Bachelors-Masters/Europe/Reuters-Journalism-Trainee for more information.

Find A New Gig With News Nerd Jobs

Any modern journalist needs to have some level of expertise when it comes to coding and handling data. News organizations across the country are always looking for new talent, and News Nerd Jobs has aggregated several of these postings into one convenient website.

News Nerd Jobs is the brainchild of Matt Waite, professor of journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the co-founder of Hot Type Consulting. (Matt is also the principal developer of the Pulitzer Price-winning fact-checking website PolitiFact, which we have covered here on 10,000 Words.) News Nerd Jobs is only about a week old, but it’s already getting some notice by the online journalism community through the Knight Digital Media Center blog.

Listings are provided using an embedded Google Docs spreadsheet, and the website is built using Twitter’s Bootstrap website framework. The site currently has over 40 job listings available, and also includes a section for internships. News organizations that are looking to hire programmers or designers can click the “Add A Job” button at the top of the page and submit their listing directly to the spreadsheet.

What are your thoughts on News Nerd Jobs?
