<title>How To Survive The Summer News Drought: 5 Places To Find Story Ideas Online</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>Summer is notoriously slow for news. Sure, breaking news and summer festivals will eat up some of the local newshole. But schools are out. Sources (and colleagues) are on vacation. Elections are still months away. And you can only write so much about the weather before you and your readers give up caring or tracking how little rain or how much sunshine your has community received.</p>

The theme for this year&#8217;s convention is <strong>#NABJ12 — New Platforms. New Directions. New Orleans</strong>, and session topics will fall under three tracks: <strong>Perfecting Your Craft </strong>(mastery of reporting, writing, editing, and other journalism cornerstones), <strong>Tech &amp; Tools</strong> (highlighting new and emerging technology), and <strong>Innovation Station</strong> (emphasizing innovation and entrepreneurship in the dissemination of enws and information). The conference will include a media showcase, a career expo, as well as several 90-minute workshops.
