Of course the cons in this board are too cowardly and extreme , or can't think for themselves, so they defended Akin's reprehensible "legitimate rape" remarks.
Others have stood up.
Romney: "“Congressman’s Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong". His spox said a Romney admin won't legislate against rape abortions.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), a conservative freshmen senator called Akin’s comments “reprehensible and inexcusable” and added: “He should step aside today for the good of the nation.”
Scott Brown (r-mass): "As a husband and father of two young women, I found Todd Akin’s comments about women and rape outrageous, inappropriate and wrong,” Brown said in a statement. “There is no place in our public discourse for this type of offensive thinking. Not only should he apologize, but I believe Rep. Akin’s statement was so far out of bounds that he should resign the nomination for U.S. Senate in Missouri.”
George Allen, John Cornyn and Mitch McConell also slammed him.
Moderates are running scared.
What does that all bring? Threats (specifically to Brown) from Family Research Council President, and RNC Platform Cmte member, Tony Perkins: "He should be careful because based on some of his statements there may be calls for him to get out of his race,” he said of Brown. “He has been off the reservation on a number of Republican issues, conservative issues I should say. His support among conservatives is very shallow."
Like I said, frankly the coms don't care about winning this election ... They're hanging swing states out to dry, and happy to see RHINOs like brown fail. Romney is too moderate for them, his loss will be justification to take the GOP even further right.
No worries. Keep Akin. Democrats are a big tent, and young leaders with morals and integrity, like Brown are welcome....

Aiken stumbled
over his tongue. It's something Joe Biden does on a daily (hourly?) basis...and I don't see any evidence of lib-loons rushing to organize a gallows party for him. Aiken realizes his unfortunate choice of words and has expressed his regret.
NOBODY is defending what Aiken said...but the ONLY people "off the reservation" are Democrats who are disingenuously and DESPERATELY trying to manufacture it into a campaign issue.
Just another indication that Democrats are in deep doo-doo, desperate and scrambling for anything...ANYTHING...they think they can use.

It isn't called "stumbling over one's tongue" to claim that women's bodies have a mechanism for handling pregnancies caused by rape.

Akin, Ryan, and others have introduced and supported legislation attempting to define "legitimate rape" as part of concerted efforts to defund women's health services.
The GOP use of the whole "don't cause pregnancy" lie has a long life in conservative talk and action:

Some moderates and RINOs are genuinely appalled. But theyre being threatened as "being off the reservation" (now that's not racist).
Others realize that its toxic politically, to 50% of the population. But it is what they believe. So they lie and hide.
At least Perkins is upfront and honest about what cons stand for.
If they get into power, better believe their war on women will be more than words.

He rolled down the side of Mt Everest!
Remember, this is a guy who tried to push through a law that would no longer consider statutory rape, date rape or drugged rape a form of "rape." (Paul Ryan was a co-sponsor).
What part did he stumble on?
1) When he suggested some rape is "legitimate?"
2) When he implied that some rape is really consensual sex?
3) When he said that women can choose not to be pregnant if they're raped?
This wasn't a gaffe. It was an idiot showing his ignorance and insulting the 30,000 women every year who become pregnant after being raped.

Akin has until 5:00 pm CDT today (Tuesday)...
to drop out of the race on his own.
After that, he'll have to get a court order to remove his name from the ballot.

the republicans are gonna have to wear this all the way to election night..
this issue is NOT going away.. and every tea party type is gonna be grilled mercilessly on their stand on abortion..deservedly so..
and every time they open their mouths to try to defend their opposition to it, that stampeding sound in the backgroud will be the sound of millions of women voters walking away from them..
and their party platform plank..which mitt apparently plans to disregard..
yeah.. sounds like a party solidly in control to me..

It doesn't bother me a bit that you flail after me all the time because you hate women who don't stay home, keep their mouths shut and make babies. Your constant hammering and nastiness only underscore that you're not a man.
You really do fit every characteristic of narcissistic personality disorder, which orth sees in you. Unfortunately for you, your manipulations can't work in an online forum like they do in real life, because it's impossible for you to exert control over anyone in cyberspace. I understand your need to beat up women online and to win the admiration of posters like WTF and SPC. I feel compassion for you. At the same time, I'm guilty of feeding your illness, because the ONLY way to handle someone with NPD is to freeze him out.
Would you like to be frozen out? It won't be hard to do. Your preposterous statements take care of themselves. In the news business, our mantra is "show, don't tell," because showing requires no further explanation. So nothing would be lost by freezing you out. It doesn't mean disappearing from the board, only pretending that you don't exist. What say ye?

He knows the biological mechanism women possess to prevent unwanted legitimate rape pregnancies. Oops! I meant "forcible" rape, as opposed to unforced rapes, which are not legitimate. DAMN! Did it again.

2oldcruztwit's issues are fairly obvious
and as more facts become available, they just reinforce what is so obvious. 2old was conceived before his legal parents were married. 2old's mother was resentful of her dreams being destroyed because she had no options. Who knows, she may have been raped ... it would be a very timely coincidence. But we don't know the facts of conception. Contraceptives or maybe even abortion might have been the best option for his mother, but she didn't have the choice. Instead, she likely took out her anger on little 2old. She may have even berated him for existing because he ruined her life. I'd say 2old's legal parents eventually divorced.
I do feel sorry for 2old. Having your mother hate your very existence is a horrible way to grow up. Not that it's acceptable behavior, but one can see how 2old developed his hatred for women. 2old might want to consider therapy if he'd like to be happy in his final years/months ... I'd say don't waste your money if you only have weeks left 2old, you'll never be happy.

No, he's just a common old far-rightwinger compounded by narcissistic personality disorder. Far-rightwingers detest women who think and express opinions. The NPD person's way of dealing with his own arrested emotional development is manipulation. You see the manipulation in his name-calling and put-downs, and he keeps it up because it's his way of feeling like he's in control.
You can accept the manipulation, as many of you do, which will keep feeding it, or you can turn your back on it, making it unsatisfying for him to keep up the nastiness.
