Well, anyone could do that. Rush does it to himself on a daily basis.

Earlier this week, Limbaugh claimed the the "polar vortex" was a liberal hoax.

"Do you know what the polar vortex is? Have you ever heard of it? Well, they (liberals) just created it for this week…They’re in the middle of a hoax, they’re perpetrating a hoax...."

Rush shouldn't have dropped out of school.

Al Roker dug up a college text book from 1959 -- with the polar vortex clearly defined.

Both Roker and Limbaugh are fools. Just goes to show the power Limbaugh has over the left.

BTW...

Remember when the "polar vortex" was blamed on global cooling?

cruster Posted - 1/9/2014 11:42:32 AM | show profile | flag this post

Oh Cowboy Quinn

The polar vortex is fake now?

Oh tell us!

Is global cooling causing the drought in California too?

Grateful Deadline Posted - 1/9/2014 11:57:53 AM | show profile | flag this post

Roker was kind. He could have pulled up a reference from 1853: ^ "Air Maps", Littell's Living Age No. 495, 12 November 1853, p. 430.

It's available in Google Books.

Yep, cruzo...

I remember.

It wasn't any scientists who made that connection, it was the popular media. And there was never a scientific consensus on "global cooling" -- don't even think there was even ever a single scientific paper published in a scientific journal claiming it.

But, Rush, the spokesman for the conservative movement in America, sure showed how stupid the global climate change deniers are with his uninformed comment!

Quinntessential Posted - 1/9/2014 1:31:08 PM | show profile | flag this post

So etaoin, global cooling was a media hoax and blaming the "polar vortex" on global cooling was a lie?

But.........Global warming is real and it caused the "polar vortex" ?

Rush is the spokesman for the conservative movement?

Rush is a entertainer. A master manipulator.

Anytime you can get the president to attack you and major media to write about you, it's all good.

When Rush can occupy space in the minds of the left, Rush wins.

Rush continues to play you like a violin. Look in the mirror. The mirror shows a fool.

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 1/9/2014 2:06:25 PM | show profile | flag this post

Wow, cruzo...

you really are clueless!

"So etaoin, global cooling was a media hoax and blaming the 'polar vortex' on global cooling was a lie?

But.........Global warming is real and it caused the 'polar vortex'" ?

No and no.

First, there was a single article about global cooling back in the 1970s. It got panned by scientists. It seems the only people who bought into it are today's climate change deniers.

Second, global warming did not "cause" the polar vortex. The vortex is a natural phenomenon. It's usually contained in arctic regions by the jet stream. What we had this week was a change in the jet stream that allowed the vortex to shift south over the U.S. Scientists -- in every report I've seen so far -- are cautious about claiming that shift is a result of climate change. They tend to see it as a WEATHER event -- not a climate change event.

"Rush is the spokesman for the conservative movement?"

Yep. He manipulates Republican voters and has been a champion of your beloved TEA Party. He is the leading voice of the conservative movement -- which gives us all an idea of how far down we've sunk since the days of William F. Buckley.

"When Rush can occupy space in the minds of the left, Rush wins."

Hardly. After criticizing me for "knowing what Wyoming Republicans are thinking" you are quick to assume you know what centrists and liberals think. The fact is, Rush occupies the minds of the far right far more than the passing laughs he gets from the center and left. But his statements -- like this one -- hurt conservatives by showing ignorance of his subject matter. That rubs off on conservatives and taints them in their efforts to be taken seriously.

Rush is one of the best things that's happened to the Democratic Party in years!

cruster Posted - 1/9/2014 2:17:29 PM | show profile | flag this post

Look in the mirror.

And see con/puzo/freedom/may and many other screen names!

Rush's claim that the polar vortex is a liberal myth only sounds stupid when you say it, or think it. Or support it.

And if you believe it? Then you're a rootin' tootin' cowboy claiming to be a media professional, yassir!

Right cowboy Quinn?

I mean you do thinkerate Rush "owns" the left by saying really stupid things. Like when you post really stupid claims that are easily discredited. It may look like you're a f*cking idiot, but actually you're lowering the bar so the Tea Party doesn't look AS stupid as they really are!!

Stupid for the cause, right con.... I mean cowboy Quinn?

I thinkerate so. Ha ha ha!

Quinntessential Posted - 1/9/2014 2:20:24 PM | show profile | flag this post

CLUELESS!!!!!!!!

Well ok, If you don't count articles going back to the early 1900's.

Never a scientific consensus? If you don't count scientist and climatologist who agreed on global cooling.

"Second, global warming did not "cause" the polar vortex."

The Obama administration, major media outlets and leftwing bloggers say it did or maybe it did.

So who's wrong?

Quinntessential Posted - 1/9/2014 2:28:41 PM | show profile | flag this post

" Like when you post really stupid claims that are easily discredited."

Name some.

Crusty joe, keep trolling for the cause!!!!!

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 1/9/2014 2:39:26 PM | show profile | flag this post

Poor, poor, cruzo...

digging himself into an ever deeper and deeper hole in the snow!

Let's look at that "lack of consensus."

Let's take a look at the work of James Lawrence Powell, who examined 2,258 articles published in peer-reviewed journals between November 2012 and December 2013.

These articles had a total of 9,136 authors.

All but one of them supported human-influenced causes for global warming leading to global climate change.

The one dissenting view -- a Russian -- opened his paper saying that attempting to stop human influences on climate would likely bankrupt Russia's oil export industry (suggesting a motive for his conclusion).

http://www.desmogblog.com/2014/01/08/why-climate-deniers-have-no-scientific-credibility-only-1-9136-study-authors-rejects-global-warming

http://www.salon.com/2014/01/09/9135_out_of_9136_scientists_believe_climate_change_is_happening/

So, yes. 9,135 to 1 is not exactly 100% -- but it's a consensus among climate scientists, cruzo.

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 1/9/2014 3:01:48 PM | show profile | flag this post

Oh, and one more thing, cruzo...

You said: "The Obama administration....says it [global warming and the climate change it causes] did or maybe it did [cause the shift in the polar vortex]."

No.

Here's what the White House Science Director said: “If you’ve been hearing that extreme cold spells like the one we’re having in the United States now disprove global warming, don’t believe it,” Holdren says in the video. “The fact is that no single weather episode can either prove or disprove global climate change.”

Rush isn't playing anyone but the right. Calling the polar vortex a liberal invention is just. plain. stupid.

Also, what causes weather? Wait for it.... HEAT! Not cold.
So there is reason to believe changing weather patterns brought in by a warmer planet can cause major shifts in weather patterns INCLUDING shifts that cause colder air to move south instead of remaining stable.

Look it up!

Nice try, more to come.
