in every single leading economic indicator..." Tavis Smiley of the self-named PBS talk show
Smiley says he still respects the president and will protect him but says he's being "forthright" about the damage Obama's policies are doing to the black community.

I suspect you have a point here
Care to make it?

Here we go again -- cruiser posts conservative spin, never bothering to check it out.
To find out what Tavis Smiley *really* thinks, go to the original source: Tavis Smiley himself. He's on Facebook and Twitter, and he's also a great guy to talk to.
Posted - 10/12/2013 3:03:25 PM | show profile | flag this post
I think the point was
everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Nothing wrong with that.
Ton's of opinions this week regarding the GOP Shutdown for example. Most of them negative towards to GOP. If cruise doesn't want to start a thread about that, that's his right.
"Sen. John McCain to Fox host: Let’s have a little straight talk. The shutdown is the GOP’s fault" I read that one. (R) Peter King was even worse.
"Tinfoil Hat Alert! Two Idiotic Memes The Right Actually Believes Are Really Happening" A FotoShop of helicopters covering up Mt Rushmore, and that 'Obama closing the Ocean'
Wingnut RadioJock Rick Wiles: “Have you noticed that the only people being shut down or evicted are white Americans? I’m serious. Think about this.”
The Values Voter Summit this week has been a plethora of whackjob bullshit. YES. These people are entitled to their opinions. But the stuff they actually want--It's like watching a bad episode of 'The Walking Dead' meets the 'Red Dawn' remake.
Mark Levin. He wants a Const Amendment banning Blue States. "But we have no options. This is the only option. I don’t care if no senator or no member of Congress supports this, we bypass them. That’s the entire purpose of this project. If you have one out-of-control Supreme Court, one out-of-control Congress and one out-of-control president, there’s no where to go!”
"Rick Santorum, who perhaps best embodies the low intellectual output of the Values Voter Summit, found a way to blame the French Revolution for contraception, asserting that the ACA’s contraception mandate is “a descendant of the French Revolution.”
Bachmann. She still maintains God will save us from ObamaCare, which from now on she will refer to as "DeathCare". Because we all know, health insurance kills people.
I have no proof of this whatsoever--But I suspect--just suspect--that cruise thought it was news worthy to start yet another thread on Obama, because HEY!! LOOKIE THERE!! A black guy criticising Obama!! So what?!!?!
At that ridiculously titled "Values Voter Summit"...Fox News darling (and black) numbnut: "Fox News’ Ben Carson: ‘Re-educate the women’ because ‘they get all riled up’ over abortion" "Newly hired Fox News contributor Dr. Ben Carson proposed on Friday to “re-educate the women” so that they would stop having abortions."
So...Just because you happen to be black, and on TV, doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be in the tank for Obama. Apparently this was a ground-breaking mind blowing reveleation for cruise, and he thought we should all know about it.

It's called the shotgun approach
and dogson executes it to a T. The way it works is throw EVERYthing against the wall to see if ANYthing sticks.
But his objective is different: he wants to change the subject. Left wingers like dogson are mortified by other left wingers...especially monorities...criticizing Obama.

"what Tavis Smiley *really* thinks"
What Smiley REALLY thinks is what he said in his own words...which I quoted above and will repeat below:
"Black people will have lost ground in every single leading economic indicator..."
Posted - 10/12/2013 4:23:45 PM | show profile | flag this post
Yes, it was a Shotgun
Because What. The. Hell. Was. Your. Point.
One Lib/Dem Black talk show host doesn't agree with Obama 100%?? That proves some point somehow?? "Left wingers like dogson mortified by other left wingers...especially minorities...criticizing Obama." NO NO NO I'm not. Where did I even indicate that?? I'm no fan of Smiley, but he's entitled to his opinion.
And holy crap--since you only read the Newbusters version: This is what you just posted: "What Smiley REALLY thinks is what he said in his own words...which I quoted above and will repeat below:
"Black people will have lost ground in every single leading economic indicator..." WHAT he really said after that was: "But here's the other side. I respect the president. I will protect the president. And I will correct the president. He's right on this government shutdown. Republicans are thwarting the rule of law with the Constitution. If they let this debt go into default, they're trampling again on the Constitution." Ooooooh. You left that out didn't you?
In addition: "When Hannity brought up Obama’s low approval numbers, Smiley shot back that the GOP’s are “worse” and people just believe at this point that “our government is dysfunctional.” He did agree with Hannity that he’s “sick and tired” of economists saying the country is in recovery, when “poverty is threatening our very democracy.”
On whether the president isn’t doing enough negotiating, Smiley said all Republicans want is the president to capitulate to their demands, and praised Obama for having a “stiff spine.” He said that for years, Republicans “lectured us” about upholding the rule of law, but by doing everything humanly possible to stop Obamacare, they are “thwarting the rule of law” and “trampling again on the Constitution.”
Well that puts things in a different light now don't it? Or do you still want to be a new Travis Smiley fan??

No, I deliberately left it out
because it wasn't germane to my point...and the ONLY way it's germane to yours is to help you change the subject. That seems to be your favorite way to dodge the issue of late.
Posted - 10/12/2013 6:33:40 PM | show profile | flag this post
Most Americans have "lost ground"
During the current administration. No surprise there, it's in the news everyday. Skin color does not matter. Good thing it's not Obama's fault.

seldom has cruiztwit put on display his astounding.
do you think people just accept your word?..do you think no one checks on your "sources"?..
do you think no one realizes you're one of the great LIARS in recorded history?..
I reiterate my belief.. you are certifiably insane..get some help..

cruiser's racism is meant to help
All he wants to do is help the poor helpless dark people.
Posted - 10/13/2013 12:21:01 AM | show profile | flag this post
I love that logic.
"No, I deliberately left it out because it wasn't germane to my point..."
You started a brand new thread...based on a half quote...from a black commentator...that somehow shows that not every black commentator out there adores Obama. I mean if Newsbusters says it's true, it must be true.
Of course when I pointed out that you totally left out the other things he said ("He’s right on this government shutdown. Republicans are thwarting the rule of law with the Constitution. If they let this debt go into default, they’re trampling again on the Constitution.”) Well, we're just going to ignore all that. So..."your point" was someone else's point, crticial of both the president and Congress?
But, moving on...blackedtape?? "Most Americans have "lost ground"
During the current administration. No surprise there, it's in the news everyday..." Really?? Looks to me like that depends on your definition of 'most americans'...
The number of jobs gained since President Obama first took office has now climbed to just over 2.5 million as of August. The number of jobs added under Obama is nearly two-and-a-half times the number added during George W. Bush’s entire eight years in office. If you never lost your job, you may not give a shit, but for those two and half million, going back to work is a very big deal.
And...for you richer people out there...the S&P is 106 percent higher than when Obama first took office. So U.S. stockholders and pension funds remain far wealthier than they were when the president entered the White House. Other market indicators show similar gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 86 percent since Jan. 20, 2009, the day of Obama’s first inauguration. During the same period, the NASDAQ Composite index has gained 156 percent. Even gas prices aren't all that bad.
And oh yea...those two pesky wars are being dealt with and our soldiers are coming home. If you don't have a personal stake in that I can see why you wouldn't give a shit.
There is so so so much more work to be done. ObamaCare just scratches the surface. We have far far too many people out of work, and even a thousand families in poverty is a thousand too many. What we need is for the Congress to work with the president instead of against him for the sake of a Fox soundbite.
Just my two cents.

When you people engage in ad hominem and personal attack
it's just more evidence...as if any more were needed...that you don't have a factual and cogent argument.

Don't f*ck with me old man
You bitter old Obama hater. You obviously cling to to that because you have nothin else. What the HELL are you doing on this newzie board every day anyway??? You're not in the biz. You never were in the biz, you're just a hapless piece of sludge who wants to vent your hatred of anything Obama. But I digress. Sort of makes me feel better though every so often.
"The number of jobs gained since President Obama first took office has now climbed to just over 2.5 million as of August. The number of jobs added under Obama is nearly two-and-a-half times the number added during George W. Bush’s entire eight years in office" All that is from the Bureau of Labor. Anyone can look it up.
All the "Stock Stuff"? Google Finance. “S&P 500.” Historical prices. Accessed 8 Oct 2013. “Dow Jones Industrial Average.” Historical prices. Accessed 8 Oct 2013. “NASDAQ Composite.” Historical prices. Accessed 8 Oct 2013. Anyone can look it up.
"Your talking points are not backed up by fact." Uh, yea they are.
And that "When you people engage in ad hominem and personal attack" Really old. When you post pure crap and then insult actual journalists?? Yea. I'm gonna ad hominem yer ass.

You're just a rabid leftist partisan
who can't stand to be challenged. When I post facts you'd rather not confront...or post opinion critical of the most destructive administratio in history...you go off on one of your ad hominem, insult and vulgarity-laden rants.
I'm sure it makes you feel better...but it makes you look like a child.

cruiser also could stand to use the term "ad hominem" correctly. Will he ever? Doubtful.
But we're not going to teach cruiser new tricks. After all this time, we can all see that he has serious limitations in communication. He simply can't double-check information, discern between news and opinion, or express himself as a free-thinking individual. It's no wonder he's angry all the time and leans on angry websites to fill his head. One of his saddest posts was the recent one in which he said that picking a fight here meant he had done something brilliant.

2.5 million? Two-and-a-half times the number added during George W. Bush’s entire eight years in office?
Oh shutup!!! No way!!!! I want to hear more about these jobs.
Are these full or part time jobs?
High skilled or low skilled jobs?
High paying or low paying jobs?
Jobs with benefits? No benefits?
Rich people have gain the most from the Presidents policies.
What about the poor and middle class? Mpdodgson, tell me how they are doing compared to the Bush years.
No, you shut up!!! Tell me more!!!!

Hey Crotch...you still here?
(you) "2.5 million? Two-and-a-half times the number added during George W. Bush’s entire eight years in office? Oh shutup!!! No way!!!! I want to hear more about these jobs."
Well here's a FRIGGIN CLUE for you...look it up. I already said those numbers were from the BLS; which any journalist knows is where you go for umemplyment stats. But I'll make it easier for the TeaBagger impaired:
The number of jobs gained since President Obama first took office has now climbed to just over 2.5 million as of August, which is the most recent period for which the Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported its seasonally adjusted figures for total nonfarm employment.
Any additional gains during September have yet to be reported, because BLS was forced to postpone the report it had scheduled for Oct. 4 due to the partial shutdown of the federal government that began Oct. 1. A private report issued by the ADP Research Institute estimated that an additional 166,000 jobs were added during September in the private sector. But we’ll have to wait until after the shutdown is over to see what the BLS reports for total employment, which often differs slightly from the ADP’s estimate of private employment, and which also includes gains and losses in government jobs.
The official BLS estimate for August is still 1,923,000 jobs short of the peak reached in January 2008. Even so, the number of jobs added under Obama is nearly two-and-a-half times the number added during George W. Bush’s entire eight years in office, which were plagued by two economic recessions.

I don't know about "seasonally"
but Obama's job figures certainly were "adjusted." He counted part timne workers as full time, counted seasonal jobs the same as full time...and even counted jobs that were filled for the express purpose of fudging employment numbers. People were "hired" for a week or so and let go after their "employment" was recorded.
Now the leftists on here will vehemently deny this and dogson specifically will loose another...ahh, impolite (to be charitable)...tirade against me because he doesn't to be reminded of Obama's mendacity.

I'm not doubting the job numbers. I invited you to look behind the numbers to see the America that isn't feeling the recovery.
Part time jobs. Low skill jobs. Jobs without benefits.
This is job creation under President Obama.
Combine that with people over 50 who can't find work, people that have given up looking for work, the poor getting poorer, the shrinking middle class, debt, increasing cost of healthcare, food and utilities.
This is the America you should get to know. Stop in flyover country sometimes or leave your liberal safe haven and see the rest of the state you live in.
Tavis lets us in on a leftwing not-so-secret.
Leftwingers know President Obama is failing Americans they claim to care about the most.
Numero uno is to protect and defend President Obama.
Even if it means betraying what you believe and stand for.
Calling me names shows a lack of control on your part.
Stop embarrassing yourself.
