CPAC Bans Christie
Posted - 2/26/2013 11:48:35 AM | show profile | flag this post
Governor Chris Christie has a 74% approval rating, is loved by Republicans and supported by a majority of Democrats in his home state.
That obviously makes him "too liberal" for CPAC -- which is refusing to invite him to the annual gathering of conservatives.
Part of the reason the majority of Americans today see the Republican Party, and the current crop of conservatives in general, as out of touch and too extreme.

Ah, well. CPAC isn't on the lips of the American public anyway.

so, etaoin, you think not being invite is the same as being banned?
were in the constitution does it say cpac can/can't invite whoever the organizers want?

not so much.........

Doesn't understand how this CPAC gaffe is another sign of how the right is falling farther out of touch with America.

Not a fan of Christie...
Too much of a hothead for my taste...but he is the one repub who knows how to reach across the aisle and get dems on board. The repubs should be embracing him but instead the see him as the enemy for being reasonable. The party continues to be their own worst enemy...along with all the middle and lower class people they continue to alienate.

Look at the list
Palin??? Mitt??? Newt. Santorum. Allen West. Rick Perry. WAYNE LAPIERRE!?!? What...was Ted Nugent and Victoria Jackson unavaliable???
The GOP just lost a Presidential they really should have or could have won. We just mentioned another new poll that shows only 22% identify themselves as Republicans. Christie has a higher approval rating than Obama. And yet--they snub this guy?? This is like a bunch of dinosaurs hanging around together hoping for a comet to hit them.

since the left wants, needs, and desires christie at cpac, that should give most a idea why christie wasn't invited.

CPAC is free to invite whatever speaker they want
They don't want Christie.
That says more than any liberal spin, any partisan twist. You folks on the right can twist yourself into any pretzel-style logic you want, but the facts speak for themselves. You just don't like what they say.

I couldn't care less whom they invite to their little party.
It just goes to show that the repubs have been hijacked by the far right which is a very small minority. YOU are the one who should be concerned if you want the repubs to ever have a chance at controlling power again. But that pretty much went out the window with 8 years of Bush. See ya!

christie is arguably the most popular republican in america.
so it makes perfect sense that a republicans trying to regain some kind of status as a viable, inclusive political party wants nothing to do with him..
perfect sense in the tea party world, that is....which is not connected to the world the rest of us live in..

my mistake. i assumed leftwing posters knew what cpac was.
maybe turning off msnbc and getting your facts from somewhere other than the liberal kooksphere will help you.

Con, you've made a lot of mistakes...
in this thread.
Liberals couldn't care less is Christie is there or not.
But CPAC's failure to invite him speaks volumes about WHY the current conservative movement is failing.
I encourage you and other conservatives to continue driving moderates and independents to the Democratic Party.

you on the left have a funnie way of showing you don't care.

What we care about, con...
is seeing that you on the right aren't fixing your mistakes. That instead of moving into the mainstream and bringing more people into the GOP, you're purging more and more people.
We care, because it makes it easier for Democrats to win elections.
We care -- because we don't want the right to stop what they're doing.
Keep driving people away from Republican candidates and policies.

And...the obvious reason we care?
Every now and then some of the numb-nuts actually get elected. And they help pass legislation that affects all of us. Or they could become our President God forbid. It most certainly would be helpful if we could all hear how crazy they are before they get elected.
And yes...obvioulsy...If the Dems held a "D-PAC"...and a roster of insane anarchy loving pitchfork wielding crazed Black Panthers paraded before the mic--I would hope conservative voices would say or post 'Look at these people'!! Lock up your guns and daughters!! (Actually, that's pretty much what wingnuts say all the time now, but you get the point)
