I think more of us are using the "confirmed the story" phrase since the internet has usually broken the "news" hours ago. What we're actually saying is "We know that you've already heard this, well now we're telling it to you too." Blocks right.

ESPN's one of the biggest offenders of this.

they see a story broken elsewhere, then steal it by saying 1 of their own people "confirmed" it.
