more than twice as many convention viewers watched the procedings on Fox News as on ABC and NBC...COMBINED!

Every outlet...except Fox...was down double digits in ratings compared to 2008.

Apparently news consumers have figured out what the "journalists" on here refuse to confront...and that is Fox News, with its fair and balanced approach, appeals to more of them than any other network.

Eyeballs rolling ceilingward

Republicans watch Republican-leaning TV.

Shocking. Who knew that could happen? Next you'll conclude that more Homeowners watch HGTV. Political junkies watch C-Span. Weather junkies will watch the Weather Channel.

Few people here manifest the "I-think-it-so-it-must-be-true" view than does Cruiser.

It's humorous

how the left wingers on here feel an uncontrollable urge to contradict me...even if they have to change the prenise of the thread to do so.

But I understand it...they have little or nothing to feel good about as they see before their eyes Obama's re-election prospects sliding inexorably away.

It's humorous

...how cruiser will assign any possibility but the obvious one: he's wrong.

Honey Boo Boo Beats Republican National Convention Coverage in Ratings

Aug. 30, 2012 4:18 PM PDT

Looks like America cares more about a toddler, a tiara and her (former) pet pig than, you know, that whole race for president thing.
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, TLC's spinoff starring Toddlers and Tiaras' Alana Thompson and her family, hit a series-high yet again with almost 3 million viewers, effectively topping cable news and broadcast network coverage of the Republican National Convention.

Even though it's in its fourth week, Honey Boo Boo's ratings continue to rise, growing 30 percent from last week's 2.3 million viewers. How else did the self-proclaimed redneck family beat the coverage of the RNC? In the 18-49 demo, of course! With a 1.3 rating, the only competition Honey Boo Boo had in the time period was the Fox News' 1.2 rating.

This Proves It!

Fox's ratings are absolute proof.

There is now no doubt whatsoever.

If anyone doubts it, just look at the ratings.

It's settled and that is that.

given that rednecks make up a majority of the tea party..

why is anyone surprised at this?

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 9/4/2012 2:01:50 PM | show profile | flag this post

What's amazing is the sheer numbers...

of Americans who just didn't watch the conventions at all.

FOX is an echo chamber. They drew only a tiny fraction of viewers who used to watch political conventions.

And the near zero convention bump for Romney/Ryan seems to confirm that no one but the partisans really care about party conventions any more.

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 9/5/2012 10:29:48 AM | show profile | flag this post

And FOX actually got beat in key demos...

by none other than COMEDY CENTRAL's RNC coverage:

http://www.deadline.com/2012/09/comedy-central-tops-fox-msnbc-cnns-republican-convention-coverage-in-key-demos-jon-stewart-stephen-colbert-clint-eastwood/

"Among adults 18-34, Comedy Central pulled in a 0.8 rating and 450,000 viewers compared to FNC’s 0.59 and 329,000 viewers during the hour. MSNBC got a 0.29 rating and 158,000 viewers while CNN had 0.26 and 146,000 viewers."

In the age of social media, the 19th Century technology of political conventions are a joke.

Confirming my suspicion...

cruize is just as out of touch and desperate now as he was last month. More Fox viewers watched the RNC?!?! Who'd a thunk it?? (Doesn't that also help blow a hole into the myth that 'Librul lamestream media' dominates all?? Oh well)

"News, with its fair and balanced approach, appeals to more of them than any other network."

One of the most absurd statements ever uttered. Convention proceedings aren't what they used to be, Convention coverage isn't what it used to be, and it's all because we all know they are BOTH just coronation-dog-and-pony-shows.

Do us a favor. Get back to us when it comes to Election Night.

FYI, four years ago??
Broadcast Networks: ABC: 13.1 million total viewers, 6.1 million A25-54 NBC: 12.0 million total viewers, 5.8 million A25-54 CBS: 7.8 million total viewers, 3.5 million A25-54

Cable Networks: CNN: 12.3 million total viewers, 5.8 million A25-54 FNC: 9.0 million total viewers, 3.9 million A25-54 MSNBC: 5.9 million total viewers, 2.7 million A25-54

Other: Fox: 5.1 million total viewers Univision: 4.1 million total viewers Telemundo:0.8 million total viewers

In other words; Conservatives, Republicans, and wingnuts love Fox election coverage. The rest of the voters with working brain cells?? Not so much.

cruiser Posted - 9/5/2012 2:18:57 PM | show profile | flag this post

All of the non-pertinent smoke and mirrors notwithstanding

the take-away from THIS GOP convention coverage was that FNC outdrew two alphabet networks...COMBINED.

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 9/5/2012 3:02:09 PM | show profile | flag this post

And those two alphabet networks...

didn't cover the conventions wall to wall.

And FOX News got beat by the regular network programming from those two networks.

Confirming my suspicion...

...that cruiser's so-called logic is groundless. Turns out MSNBC won the night last night. Fox was in last.

Now...does this mean America's turning? Does this mean Fox has lost its mojo? Does this mean Obama's back? No. Just like Fox News's win during the Republican convention, it just means those who are the true believers know where to turn.

This is quite interesting, though unremarkable...other than pointing out that cruiser's premise in making the first post...was groundless.

Chew on this.... and remember the old saying about spitting into the wind.
