Could I still be in the running?

I just moved back to the NYC area and have begun applying for advertised jobs. How long should one wait these days before concluding one is no longer in the running for a job?
Mind you, I've only had my materials out for a week and a half or less for various positions. But in recent years when someone was interested in interviewing me, they typically responded within a day or two.

What I meant was, how long is typical for an employer to get back to someone about an interview? Is 2 weeks usually the cutoff point?
I am rusty at this.

It varies among employers. Some take two months -- or more.
