Dr. Tim Johnson was not only a television medical reporter / consultant pioneer, he was a genuinely a nice man. Back in the day (sometime in the mid70's), while working for the ABC affiliate in South Bend- Elkhart, IN, I remember we brought him in for a live one-hour broadcast with studio audience (a big deal back then)where invited guests could ask him anything about medicine. I remember picking Dr. Tim up from Holiday Inn to bring him to the station in my newer, yet modest compact car. Even though I was the show host and a big fish in a small pond, I saw Dr. Tim as a widely popular and giant star coming to our little fish bowl, as he promoted his association with ABC and his medical minutes syndicated segments. The 20-minute ride from the motel to the studio passed in a heartbeat as he was the most down-to-earth person one would ever want to meet. We had a wonderful broadcast and Dr. Tim went on to bigger and better broadcast prominence. I will always remember Dr. Timothy Johnson as having a bedside manner that exemplifies the best of the best. His tenure at CVB is a strong testimonial to his enduring popularity. Enjoy your retirement Dr. Tim. And, thanks very much for all the medical wisdom you provided to millions of viewers over the years. |

Best wishes to him.... Although I considered it sad a few years ago when ABC essentially put him out to pasture, in favor of Dr. Besser. |
