Feinstein thinks PTSD started in Iraq

and is a "new phenomenon."
Senator Dianne Feinstein may be getting senile. The California octogenarian said this...along with several other dubious claims...at a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which she is a senior member.
Apparently Feinstein has led a sheltered life and has never heard of "shell shock" or "battle fatigue," both of which are previous references to what is now known as post traumatic stress disorder.
Another of Feinstein's wild assertions was that it is legal to hunt humans with 15 round, 30 round and 150 round magazines.
But both committee chair Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) recognize the reality that Americans have no appetite for outright bans on any currently legal firearms and there is little support among Feinstein's senate colleagues.

What DiFi said was really wrong.
Really wrong. I read that PTSD was first 'recognized' that back in 1980. She was obviously incorrect there. But...in the larger context...I noticed you didn't quote her. Why is that??
Here's why. She was referencing a proposed amendment exempting veterans from her bill banning assault weapons. All veterans--sick or not--under psychiatric care for PTSD or not--simply because they're veterans. Follow that?? I think we all agree that the mentally ill shouldn't have ready access to weapons...but it's okay to exclude ill veterans from that??
"SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN: If I understand this, this adds an exemption of retired military....So, you know, I would be happy to sit down with you again and see if we could work something out but I think we have to– if you’re going to do this, find a way that veterans who are incapacitated for one reason or another mentally don’t have access to this kind of weapon"
"That said, while Feinstein’s reasoning is silly, her conclusion is nonetheless sound. That is, there’s no obvious reason why veterans— even those who served 20 years of honorable service in the military—should be exempt from the laws of the land." ESPECIALLY if they're certifiably mentally ill.
In other words--While she was wrong about the diagnosis of PTSD--I think she's right about keeping assault weapons out of the hands of diagnosed mental patients--regardless of what their former occupation was.

Besides that; I'm pleasantly surprised
cruise has suddenly taken an interest in our veterans suffering from PTSD. Why...it was only last year when he told us that someof these guys and gals were faking it for the money.
QUOTE …”the rest...or some number of them...may be trying to game the system. The percentage is way out of proportion to the number of disabled in previous wars...even Vietnam."
"that the younger veterans...those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan...are leaning more toward Obama. THE REASON IS THAT FULLY ONE HALF OF THEM ARE SEEKING DISABILITY. Of course, they are more likely to receive it under Obama's entitlement society."
QUOTE: "This is in no way meant to disparage those who truly are disabled. But the inflated numbers suggest many are trying to game the system.”
But.....now, today, it's "Senator Dianne Feinstein may be getting senile". Or is this just another attempt to bash a Democrat??

"Or is this just another attempt to bash a Democrat??"
What it is, you asshole, is bashing Feinstein, who is nearly 80 years old and has served far too long with her single issue. She went to DC with the idea of banning firearms and enjoyed partial success for a decade. Now she's trying it again...with a greatly expanded scope of what and whom she would ban.
The fact that she's a Democrat is of no consequence. The important point is that she is once again trying to ram her unpopular and ill-advised gun grab through congress.
The lady is...uhh, let's say past her prime.
Posted - 3/9/2013 6:39:54 PM | show profile | flag this post
So there it is
You just want to bash Feinstein. No need to call me an asshole, you anti-ad-hominem freak you.
We both agree she was wrong about when PTSD was diagnosed. Yea. She's the first Congressperson to get a fact wrong. (See Paul, Rand, this past week). So you don't like her age. So what. I think McCain should retire. I think you're too old and senile for the rest of us to sit through your garbage too.
The point is you took her comments totally out of context. She was talking about keeping assault weapons out of the hands of the mentally ill--and veterans shouldn't be exempt from that. So she has an agenda?? Like Teabagger Congress members don't?? Like Mitch McConnell doesn't??
And you totally ignored your previous disgusting attacks on the returning Vets who are actually ill. That was slick, but we know how you feel.

"your previous disgusting attacks on the returning Vets"
And that's why I called you an asshole...you asshole.
You lie and misrepresent what I post just so you can stroke your own ego and make yourself believe you're on a higher moral plane.
But here's a hint: You ain't. You're a dishonest liar.

Words have consequences
A lesson you've never learned.
You can curse me all you want, just makes you look childish. You can call me a liar all you want, just makes you look foolish. You said what you said (in Caps no less) and we all remember it.
Stomp your feet and hold your breath for all I care.

every one of us here on this board read what cruiztwit..
said about veterans coming back seeking treatment..
mp has it right..cruiztwit is, as we've all known for a long time, nothing more than a liar when he gets caught out..which is all the time now..
and the sad thing about his lies is.. he's not even good at that..
must be hard when early onset dementia plays against narcissistic personality disorder..
he still spouts his bullshit.. but can't remember why..

Then up pipes the intellectual midget
who couldn't contribute to a discussion if his life depended on it. All he can do is throw bombs.

I really don't think
...those terms are too much to ask.

You need to address that
to all the hateful, insulting, lying radical leftists...including yourself.

Unfortunately, these boards are not moderated, so
even if you flag a post as abusive, nothing happens.
MB is too uninterested/too busy/too lazy to moderate,
so the conversation degenrates into name calling.
IMO, the tone here makes MB look unprofessional.

Let's just put that cruzo quote back up...
cruiser Posted - 5/30/2012 12:24:12 AM
"I might have to concede the point
"that the younger veterans...those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan...are leaning more toward Obama. THE REASON IS THAT FULLY ONE HALF OF THEM ARE SEEKING DISABILITY. Of course, they are more likely to receive it under Obama's entitlement society.
"This is in no way meant to disparage those who truly are disabled. But the inflated numbers suggest many are trying to game the system."
Cruzo's posts in THIS thread have said nothing to champion the cause of veterans -- but have serve only to use them as a prop to bash Sen. Feinstein.

Don't you get tired of being completely run over every day? Although it is funny, it is kind of sad to see you completely taken apart on virtually every issue. Still, in a weird way I sort of admire your persistence. After awhile you have to hope that even Wile E. Coyote wins just once.

"completely taken apart on virtually every issue"
ARE YOU KIDDING??? Just because a group of mentally deficient birds-of-a-feather attacks me relentlessly doesn't even begin to mean I'm wrong...or that their ignorance affects me.
Sure, the constant personal attacks get to me once in a while but my feeling about the egregiously myopic and unintelligent left wing philosophy is one of pity. I'm trying to set them...and you...straight.

it isn't about the troops or veterans (the 'gaming the system' people in cruzo's book), and it isn't about Feinstein.
It's about cruzo and how he's a victim of all those "birds of a feather."
Don't blame us, cruzo. Blame Acme for your faulty Instant Conservative Talking Points.

How very Alinsky-esque. He would be proud of you...as would his protegé, Barack Obama.

I now see Cruiser as a hoot, really.. he is entertaining. he is on a mission to straighten out the thinking of the 15-20 liberals who post here. is this what happems when you don't have a life?
Posted - 3/11/2013 4:18:46 PM | show profile | flag this post
And you see that as
different...how, exactly...from the 15-20 left wingers who are on a misguided mission to straighten out my thinking?
This is what happens when you and your brethren have no brains.

Ya gotta love...
his "Alinsky-esque" line.
It's an insult -- at least amongst the handful of crazies on the GOP fringe who are killing the Republican Party.
Keep it up, cruzo -- you are the best friend the Democratic Party ever had!

it's different because cruiser is extremely to the right
but does not seem to realize it and the posters he dubs
left wing extremists are just garden variety liberals.
