I personally think Vince DeMentri does a solid job. Not hatin' on the guy... But I'm wondering to myself, if I'd ever allow myself to go from market 1... to market 85. I don't think so. I'd probably just pursue a different industry and say goodbye to tv news. He either has a huge passion for news, even stories out of IL, or he has a huge ego and can't see himself being OFF the television screen. It's probably a little of both. |

Sounds like you're not familiar with the DeMentri saga. Either your need to mention "Ed" makes no sense. |

I'm referring to ur mental state, or lack thereof. I am all too familiar with Vince's past and situation and will not speak based on speculation or ignorance. We can only hope ur not in the news business, which usually is based on facts. |

Seriously? Hey buddy, it wasn't that controversial of a post. But I know you guys like to stir it up on here. I said, I don't think I could see myself going from market 1 to market 85. And the facts, are that a lot of drama surrounds that guy. Why don't you think any other big market ND's have hired him? Get a clue. |

I'm sure the guy has a healthy ego... I'm also sure the only reason he's there is that no one else wanted him. that said, he may find a pleasant surprise awaiting him in Small Marketville.... less pressure, fewer idiot bosses micromanaging everything you do, and while the salary is smaller, it goes a lot further. |

there is nothing wrong in moving to a smaller market Absolutely nothing wrong in doing it. Most of us get trapped in large markets because of seniority, salaries, houses, family, schools for our kids, fear of uprooting... but sometimes moving down is a wonderful thing to do. Personally, I would love to move to a smaller market but Im trapped here. Wife won't go. Contract. Long term planning, etc. And I envy those who can continue to work in smaller markets long after what is considered normal retirement age. |

Soatainly there was drama and some was self inflicted. He has paid for his "crime" by sitting for 2 years, which I'm sure was an eternity for someone with news guts and desires (and on 1 occasion, misguided) like Vinces'. Now, he's got a fresh start and opportunity and I hope he runs with it. And of course he has a healthy ego -- name 1 TV reporter who doesn't. He's also going to acquire some perspective and humility in this new adventure. Just ask Bill Carey. |
