Going overboard on Carnival coverage

Broadcast and especially cable news went =way= overboard (get it? overboard) with the Carnival Cruise ship coverage.
While it was fun to hear about all the gross
shit (get it? shit) that the passengers had to go through...it was not, by any means, the most important story in the world day after day and night after night.
I'll bet 95% of Americans can't afford to go on a cruise...and there may be some "good for them" sentiment out there---but no way did the story merit the coverage it got.

you're needing to comment on this over-coveraged event, why? I am guessing you just couldn't help yourself.

Over 11 million
Americans went on a cruise last year. I think that is greater than 5% of the population. And with that kind of number, the odds of someone being affected by a cruise ship problem either directly or indirectly are much better than 5%.
All in all I think the amount of coverage was correct.

would Ed feel differently if some of that coverage was anchored by Contessa?

Was anyone else unimpressed with Chris Cuomo, and his (to my eyes) wet behind the ears look when trying to do live breaking news coverage ? I mean, he's done just fine as a news READER, but now Zucker hires him to actually THINK on his feet, and maybe it's just me, but I smell wood burning.

Chris Como was bad. The story is good! Everyone wants to hear the details of this Ship Of Stools.
I can't wait to hear Gayle King's take on it Monday. Whatever she says, she will surely repeat it ... repeat it.
