Happy New Year somewhere. But here we have Obama
Posted - 1/1/2013 3:16:48 AM | show profile | flag this post
You know, as we leave this year and move into another year run by democrats, it's nice to see they're consistent in how they run the government. Back in 2006, when they came to power in congress, they proposed and ramrodded through the housing-for-everyone...don't let anyone be denied a loan housing policy...the policies that led to the housing bust and the crash of the economy along with it. They are now again pushing for more of the social-democrat everyone deserves everything policies. This time they're penalizing the wealthy for having gained wealth (for the majority of them) through hard work; taking more of their money to give to the non productive. It's yet more of Obama's class demonization he learned at the knee of his socialist father and grandfather. Plus it means more votes can be bought...you know, from those who want to get free phones and more of the "stash" they believe Obama is setting aside for them.

newscred, you are one sad sack. here you are at 2 am on
New Year's trashing Obama while everyone else is out
partying or sleeping. I feel sorry for you.

And here you are
kissing your president's ass while he screws the nation with $41 in new taxes for every $1...that's ONE DOLLAR...in spending cuts.
Actually, it's about what I expected from the dishonest, spendthrifty Obama.

Nice to see
newscred managed to get out his first crap of the New Year.
And cruise? The vote was 89-8, and the President and Vice President didn't vote. So if you're ticked off about dishonest spendthrift people screwing the naton, I suggest you pay attention. Your hatred is tad mis-placed.

I suggest you address the issue...
not try to pull the discussion off on some tangent that will obscure its horrendous impact on our extremely fragile economy.
You're also kissing the asses Democrats

Honestly don't see
how pointing out the actual vote--since that what counts--is somehow going "off on some tangent". Gee.
Posted - 1/1/2013 1:26:21 PM | show profile | flag this post
Well now....looky here, all the nastyass crap from the right. CAN'T you put your hatred on the back-burner for a few days, a few minutes, a few hours, wish your fellow MB'ers a Happy new Year?
Well if YOU can't - I WILL!
HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013! to EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU, I WISH YOU GOOD HEALTH, GOOD FRIENDS AND EXCITING NEW ADVENTURES - BE NICE, BE LOVING, BE KIND, OFFER A HELPING HAND TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS IT, A SHOULDER TO CRY ON, A SMILE.....it means more to someone hurting than you may think, we are all dealing with issues that are difficult, help make someones life brighter.

Because, pal (do I REALLY need to explain this???)...
you are trying to shift the blame to senate Republicans while simultaneously taking the focus OFF of the real issue.
To anyone who understands how this works, it's OBVIOUS that Obama got some Republican support. That's irrelevant to this discussion...but something that needs to be rectified at the next election.
But the important issue is the screwing Obama just gave the country.

I'm not kissing anyone's ass. I have not even been following
this that closely. Economics was never my thing.

Unlike some people who claim to be experts in everything
(which is simply a sign of a puffed up ego), I am smart
enough to know my strong points & weak points.

Happy new year, everybody! May 2013 bring you good health, and may you spread joy in every area of your life. May you find or use your purpose in being on Earth, learn every day, and marvel each morning at the beauty of the world. May the goodwill and fortune that you create follow you every step of the way to 2014. With best wishes to all!

One last time
The vote was 89-8. "OBVIOUS that Obama got some Republican support" Ya think??
But but but how the Senate voted?? "That's irrelevant to this discussion" "the important issue is the screwing Obama just gave the country."....by the vote in the Senate. Gotcha.
It's going to be a long long four years for you cruise. When pols of both parties actually do something for the good of the country instead of for themselves--just going to drive you over the edge. Have fun.

"When pols of both parties actually do something
for the good of the country "
When was that???
Punishing success and REFUSING to address the massive OVERspending problem is NOT "for the good of the country."
It's STRICTLY for the good of future Democrat elections...y'know, those that will be decided by the recipients of government largesse.

Huh? New years?
I guess up here in Canada we celebrate it early because of the exchange rate.
Plus the NHL strike hasn't given us anything to look forward to (yeah, I'm talking aboot the New Year's Day outdoor winter classic).
Well, have a great 2012: may your syrup be maple and the bacon Canuck.
And if you're feeling a bit hungover ... Poutine the night before.. Soaks it all up....

"Back in 2006, when they came to power in congress, they proposed and ramrodded through the housing-for-everyone...don't let anyone be denied a loan housing policy...the policies that led to the housing bust and the crash of the economy along with it."
Incredibly bad try at re-writing history, newscred.
The housing bust started in 2005 -- in the aftermath of Katrina and rising energy costs. It was the result of banks betting against themselves that loans would fail.
I've long challenged you and other believers in this "banks were forced to make loans" urban legend to provide proof that banks were ever FORCED to make loans.
No one on the right has ever provided proof of a single loan that a bank was FORCED to make.
Posted - 1/2/2013 10:47:46 AM | show profile | flag this post
You're right. No bank was forced by law or regulation
to make bad loans but if they did not, they were prevented from merging with other institutions, not permitted to grow and expand...
Those were just two of the sanctions placed on institutions that refused to go along with the Democrats' program.
So they WERE, in effect, FORCED to make loans they knew could never be repaid. That's why they repackaged mortgages into derivative securities and sold them...to protect themselves and their bottom lines.
But you know this as well as I do. You're just parroting the Democrat party line.

So you admit
That "No bank was forced by law or regulation"...but then you have to take two steps back and lie about something else.
"make bad loans but if they did not, they were prevented from merging with other institutions, not permitted to grow and expand..." REALLY?? Where is that law?? Love to see it. In fact, IF a lender was accused of discrimination, and wanted to merge ("to grow and expand") They had to 'sign a pledge' promising not to do it anymore. Awwww.
This is a funny/fascinating article from the WSJ from back in 2005: "Mortgage Lenders Loosen Standards
Despite Growing Concerns, Banks Keep Relaxing Credit-Score, Income and Debt-Load Rules."
Now in retrospect it's humorous--all these banks just giddy about making tons-o-money by easing their standards loaning money to everyone. Not one word about "being forced" to do anything--Just pure capitalism. "But the lowering of standards has also raised concerns that some borrowers may run into trouble making their payments, and that defaults could rise...."
Aw. That won't happen...keep lending.

At long last...
we got cruzo to admit that no bank was ever forced by government policy to make a bad loan.
He may wake up to reality any day now!
