Rest in peace, Helen Thomas. She was fun to watch when she sat in the front row of those presidential press conferences.

But she was also the first national journalist to show her true political colors during those conferences by being relatively soft on democrat presidents and verbally sticking it to the republican presidents whenever she could; often with a barded tone in her voice. Since then it seems the rest of the journalists in this country decided to toss off their own cloaks of non-partisanship and have become the blatant advocates, on the air and in print, for their tsar.

What was she rough on?

Certainly not his politics. Perhaps his sexual peccadillos?

On the other hand, she was very committed to the almost daily hounding of George W. Bush.

I wasn't a big "fan" per se,

But I do respect her ground-breaking role, and sheer longevity and tenacity. RIP.

newscred? When you refer to the "rest of the journalists in this country decided to toss off their own cloaks of non-partisanship and have become the blatant advocates" you mean everyone at Fox, right?

cruise? "On the other hand, she was very committed to the almost daily hounding of George W. Bush."?? 'Daily hounding' would have been really difficult since he refused to call on her FOR YEARS.

That started after this: In March 2005, she confronted Bush with the proposition that "your decision to invade Iraq has caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and Iraqis" and every justification for the attack proved false.

"Why did you really want to go to war?" she demanded.

When Bush began explaining his rationale, she interjected: "They didn't do anything to you, or to our country."

"Excuse me for a second," Bush replied. "They did. The Taliban provided safe haven for al-Qaeda. That's where al-Qaeda trained."

"I'm talking about Iraq," she said.

Ouch.

"almost daily hounding of George W. Bush."

JUST because he started a war we didn't need for reasons that didn't exist!!

That's just nit picking, isn't it cruiser?

*** On the other hand, she was very committed to the almost daily hounding of George W. Bush. ***

He held an average of 2.2 press conferences per month.

You're right, Mgdodgson...

I actually didn't mean to include the Fox NEWS types; knowing full well you're probably thinking about their commentators, who are allowed to show their political leaning, yet do so while reporting only the facts.

the sad thing about that last post, newscred..

is that you probably actually believe that crap you wrote about the fox commentators and facts..

too bad..

The day that FOX broadcasts facts...

Roger Ailes will be spinning in his grave.

Since he's alive and kicking, don't expect it anytime soon.

And yet another thread devolves into red/blue, demo/repub, librul/wingnut,

How do you do it?

It didn't devolve. It started that way.
