Hows that Shutdown Working Out for Ya?
Posted - 10/23/2013 9:25:32 AM | show profile | flag this post
Just a year ago, TEA Party hero Ken Cuccinelli was seen as a contender for a spot on the GOP ticket in 2016.
Now, he's being killed in the polls in Virginia -- with less than two weeks before the gubernatorial election there.
The latest Rasmussen poll -- RASMUSSEN, mind you -- shows him trailing longtime Clinton associate Terry MacAuliffe by 17 points.
That's a huge lead that's opened up since the government shutdown. That TEA Party stunt is likely to taint Republicans for quite a while -- and this race, like the Booker win in New Jersey, is an indication of how badly the TEA Party has hurt the GOP.

Etaoin? Such a dishonest post on a forum for "media professionals".
A scandal plagued governor, E.W. Jackson, GOP infighting and being out spent is what's hurting Cuccinelli.
With or without the Tea Party, Republicans had no chance winning the New jersey senate race.
Why isn't the Tea Party hurting Chris "Krispy Kreme" Christie?
Facts? Don't need em when GOP bashing..

all that spinning will leave you dizzy.
"Cooch" -- as his supporters call him -- was down only about four to five points in the polls before the TEA Party shutdown hit.
MacAuliffe didn't even have a clear majority in any of those polls.
The widening gap is a direct result of the shutdown.
"Cooch" refused to condemn the shutdown. Mac began running ads pointing to that fact (and to the fact that Cooch tried to shutdown the Virginia State Government during the last Democratic governor's administration) and it's killing Cooch in the polls.

Republicans going after...
Sen Mike Lee (R-UT) for his support of the government shutdown.
Lee did serious damage to small business in Utah with the shutdown. Tons of businesses -- even whole towns -- are dependent on National Parks.
Now REPUBLICANS are working on a plan to keep Lee from being re-elected. From the Wall Street Journal:
"Critics in the Republican Party, including former governors and sitting legislative leaders, openly blame Mr. Lee for helping chart a course they say weakened the party's standing nationally and dented a state economy reliant on tourists drawn to its national parks."

And the shutdown is costing the GOP...
more young, women and minority voters -- digging a deeper hole with America's changing demographics:
"Indeed, majorities of women, younger generation and non-white voters now say it’s a bad thing that the Republican Party controls the House."
And check out the sub-head in that Washington Times article: "House majority at risk."
When the far-right wing Times is saying something like that -- you know there's trouble on the right.

"Chris "Krispy Kreme" Christie?" Ha ha ha!
Oh Notch, I thinkerate your posts are hilarious.
They remind me so much of good old con/puzo with their childish insult based humor and unfathomable logic.
Good thing you appeared right as con/puzo vanished and began posting in exactly the same way and frequency he did.
You're so entertaining for ol' Crusty Joe!
Ha ha ha!

good for my home state!!..finally..
mike lee is a maniac..Utah is a conservative state, no doubt..it's still very much a theocracy there..church and state pretty much the same..
but even the church understands that a prosperous state needs to be able to rely on the things that made it prosperous..mostly the very things lee crusades against..
the utah republican party will disavow and desert him..now it needs to do the same to Jason chaffetz.. they're twin brothers..

I still don't think
The GOP is going to lose the House. Or that the Dems are going to lose the Senate....or the WH for that matter. Will more seats 'come into play' than in years past? Hell yes.
You just can't shut down the government for (lets face it) no God damn good reason and not think there will be consequences. That little Teabagger stunt cost the country at least $24 Billion--and even though it wasn't the plan or the wish of sensible Republicans, those guys were obviously, apparently, powerless to stop it. So they get caught up as collateral damage.
And if all that wasn't enough--the reason I keep ramming that "How's that Romney Landslide working our for ya?" down wingnuts throats is to remind them YOU LOST. TWICE. The country doesn't agree with you obviously. At least make the attempt to change. People like Christie just may be your only shot at the presidency for the next twenty years.
We used to make fun of the GOP Debates participants as the "Clown Car"--(Santorum, Perry, Newt, Bachmann, Paul, Cain etc). Hell, now were up to a full Opera Company of Morons. (Cruz, Lee, Gohmert, King...work yourself downhill from there...)
And yes, as a Dem/Lib, it's a hoot to watch.

Accusing me of posting under multiple names? With nothing to back up your accusations?
Why are you here? This is a forum for "media professionals". Clearly, you've never worked in the media.
Crusty Joe, sometimes it's best to admit defeat. Move on to a blog where you can get the attention you crave.

stow it, crotch..
we took little time to figure out that it's YOU who, like your pal cruiztwit, has never worked a day..an hour.. in the media..
so stop trying to pass yourself off as a professional..those of us who actually ARE professionals have no real trouble figuring you people out..
you may be a professional something..bnut it has nothing to do with media or journalism..

Crotch quinn did work in the media, but his unprofessional behavior at an event he was supposed cover resulted in his @ss being canned. Too bad crotch/con/putzo wasn't "man enough" to stand up and own what he did. Instead the wimp had the video pulled from youtube. Maybe he should have thought about the consequences of his actions BEFORE he acted like a stupid idiot on someone else's time.

More signs of trouble for the GOP...
due to the shutdown.
Democrats have widened the lead in the generic Congressional ballot. Still not enough to swing an election (probably need a 12-point lead in the generic for Democrats).
"This all leads to an eight-point Democratic advantage on what’s called the generic ballot. The poll shows that when voters are asked how they would vote if the Congressional election were held today, 45 percent would vote for the Democratic candidate in their district and 37 percent the Republican candidate."
And Larry Sabato -- one of the more astute political watcherss -- says the shutdown has probably already killed any chance of the GOP taking the Senate next year.

This from the moron who is pooh-poohing current polls showing Obama's popularity tanking and saying polls are unimportant.
I guess they're only "unimportant" when they show something he doesn't like.

Did I pooh-pooh any poll, cruzo?
I dare you to post that quote -- IN CONTEXT.
And you need to keep up with politics -- and polling -- a little better.
Obama's approval is up slightly since the shutdown in every poll I've seen. Not great -- but a helluva lot better than George W. Bush had at the end of his administration.
The GOP's in trouble from the shutdown. And you don't believe it.
But then, you think the GOP's Voter ID Law in Texas was a Democratic Party conspiracy. You obviously know less about politics than you do "military wounding bullets."

I accepted responsibility for my actions. I went to rehab.
The Tube video violated TOS, so it was removed. I had nothing to do with that.
I still work in media. I only use one id on this forum for "media professionals".
Etaoin, problem with the generic ballot? It doesn't have a Democrat name on it. Once a Democrat name is on it, Republicans look much better.

You obviously know less about EVERYthing
but how to launch ad hominem attacks. Your credibility is ZERO.
Posted - 10/24/2013 3:26:56 PM | show profile | flag this post
that's not the way the generic ballot poll works.
It measures the mood of the country's voters based on which party they'd prefer have in power.
And, cruzo. I'm not launching any ad hominem attacks. Just stating facts -- and you don't even try to challenge them
The GOP came out of the shutdown in bad shape -- and it's given Obama and Democrats in Congress -- and waiting to run -- lots more leverage. But you, like so many other on the extreme right, aren't paying attention to what's going on:
It's like the Romney Campaign implosion all over again.

A new WSJ/NBC poll shows President Obama's approval rating at 42 percent.
The same poll shows Obama's favorable rating at 41 percent. A new low.
The Tea Party is really hurting Obama.

Almost TWICE as much approval as W had on his way out.
Meanwhile, let's look at the TEA Party (and the GOP in general) in that same poll, crotch.
Tea Party Republicans (45 percent unfavorable to 12 percent favorable)
Congressional Republicans (53 percent unfavorable to 9 percent favorable).
Maybe the TEA Party should shut down the government again. It worked so well for them the last time.

I think notch...
Needs to go back to rehab for his tea addiction...Obviously you have some issues...maybe a little more professional help is needed...and I hate to use the word "professional" when talking about your posts...Don't want anyone to get confused and think I am referring to your fact-free rants...
