How the heck are you? Seems like we have completely lost our OT peeps. Hope all is going well with you.
What's been shaking in your world lately?
Wishing you a very Happy New Year, we can all use a bit more joy in our lives these days.

Hey, happy New Year
Bleak et al.
Admittedly, we've been letting the political junkies hijack this forum which is supposed to be a sounding board for those of us who actually work in media.
Next year perhaps things will be different. God bless all the O/T pals - may 2013 find your inboxes stuffed with speaking engagements and your mailboxes stuffed with checks!

Bleak! Was just thinking of you and all our O/T friends! Happy New Year dear friends! Anyone want to share how they're doing? There's an expression... You are only as happy as your least happy child. My kids are all well and happy. I am blessed...and happy. Had the pleasure, this past year of meeting some of my favorite authors. The highlight of my year was meeting Geoff Dyer, arguably England's best living author. Now if I could just meet Tarantino this year....Here's a random question to start the year off...What artist would you like to meet this year and why?

Maybe if MB used modern forum technology, more people would visit. As it stands now, without the ability to quote or edit, and with the forums buried, it seems MB wants the forum to disappear.

Well I posted rtqs a few months back but nobody responded.

Yeah, but that was right after we had a little visitor that nobody wanted to encourage.

I'm still alive, but unemployed :-(
I don't remember if I posted that I got laid off in August. 2012 was an AWFUL, HORRIBLE year for me for numerous reasons. At least my health is holding.
Are we trying to revive RTQ's? I'll check back in a few days to see if anyone is responding.

Hey Nandy, nice to see that someone posted here...Bleak started the post and never came back, I peek in every couple weeks to see if anyone has posted in this section but alas it is quite dead.
Sorry to hear about your 2012 but glad your health is holding, mine is not so good now and is putting a cramp in my active lifestyle for sure but I shall persevere - spring is nearly sprung, hoping more sunshine and lollipops will do the trick ;-)

Been a dog's age and then some! Greetings, onetime RTQers. Have had two too many layoffs in the past year, but all in the household are healthy and happy so no cause to complain. Hope all are well, and those with mentioned ailments or job probs on the road to recovery.

Hello Peeps, so nice to see you guys. Hope everyone well and happy, or at least as happy as it possible to be under whatever circumstances you are dealing with.
Can you believe MB actually updated the look of the message board? Shocking. Must be trying to jump head first into the new millennium. :-)

I've been MIA for so long but good to drop by and see so many familiar names. Will have to try to get back now and then. I do miss RTQ.
I hate the redesign. Bleh.
I've been busy with work (thankfully) and with my 2nd kid who is now - holy moly time flies - 3 and a giant ball of testosterone-and-goldfish-cracker-fueled insanity.

I agree, the redesign buries the Bulletinboard even more so than before.
It's a ghost town and I feel pretty sad about it!

HisGirl and Westside!~ How are you? Would be great to see a few other RTQ regulars too. I'm sure there is a lot to catch up with and I would love to hear from you both the gang here on what's going on in your lives these days. Hope you are all enjoying the summer. xox

Nikon...Was just north of the border and thinking of you! Seems your friend Edie has written a terrific book and will be speaking at my library soon. Shall I send your regards?
All is well! Regards to all the regulars! Miss everyone and especially Janet for giving all of us a guilty pleasure...

Were you in Quebec? I always think about you and what a wonderful time we had meeting in NY. Hope to get back there soon. wish I cold spend my summers in my old stomping grounds in the Hamptons. No place like it in the summer.
I am so pleased that you will go hear Edie speak, she is a wonderful, wonderful woman. I love her to pieces...I haven't seen her in years but we did chat on text last year. Please do say hello for me and give her a big hug too!
How's the big guy doing? Hope his health has been on the rebound and he is doing well. xoxo

I really wish some of the RTQ regulars would drop by and catch us up and say hello...miss you all.
EVEN after the the upgrade on this site, WRITERS CANNOT EDIT!
Get with the times people.... typos happen, We would like to have the option to correct them.

So...any chance of new life here?
Things are excellent these days, finally. I had my left hip replaced Feb. 6, 2012 and pain-free life is lovely. Malled was published in China this month and my third book proposal will go out to publishers soon. Freelance work is really busy...all is blessedly good.
I miss RTQs and this crowd, too.

After finding there was absolutely no interest in hiring an award-winning designer over the age of 60, I threw in the towel and decided to accept that I am retired...but will only concede to semi-retired as I will accept freelance work. Collecting SS as of June and trying to cut expenses.
Any other RTQ regulars checking in?
Posted - 9/15/2013 2:34:00 PM | show profile | flag this post
I peek in occasionally to see if any of our OT peeps post, but other than that - this is a don't bother stopping zone -
Janet never came back which is a shame. This message board is SO outdated it's a relic.
Congratulations on the semi-retirement. I join you there, got rid of two no longer thriving businesses, re-branded my on-line magazine and have whittled down to one thing. Photography with text no longer than 500 words. Collecting pension already, so that is a great help. No one wants to pay for anything anymore and 60+ people have been put out to pasture whether they want it or not.

i find myself thinking of you all often. i miss you and our rtq's.
news here: well, i didn't die. that is a big deal. i went into cancer treatment in march 2008. i connected with other "young survivors" across the country who were also starting chemo at that time. there were 11 of us. 4 are now gone. this shocks me to the bones, but it's the truth. i started chemo the same exact day as alicia...similar stage and pathology...turned out we even had friends in common, even though we lived hundreds of miles from each other. i loved her. i always will. but she developed stage 4 disease in 2010 and died in june of 2012. she was 36.
i spend a lot of time helping people who just got sick/have gotten sick again/see that their lives seem to be ending. young people. amazing people. this makes my life feel much more deeply rooted but my *work life* seem much, much harder to concentrate on.
i would at the least like to go back and look at our old rtq's. print them out maybe. can i? xoxoxo pam
