"If You Like the Insurance You Have, Keep It:
Nothing in the proposal forces anyone to change the insurance they have. Period."
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

There was a video circulating that had clips of the president saying it. I believe he said it on 29 different occasions.
I'll see if I can find it.
Politicians lying, we'll that's not news. People continuing to defend the lies or simply pretending that the president never said that, well that's just sad.
Cognitive dissonance once again: "But, but I believe it, so it's true."

President APOLOGIZES, sort of
President Obama said Thursday that he is "sorry" that some Americans are losing their current health insurance plans as a result of the Affordable Care Act, despite his promise that no one would have to give up a health plan they liked.
"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me," he told NBC News in an exclusive interview at the White House.
"We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this."

This is hilarious...
The people are losing their health policies because they SUCKED. They don't offer the coverage to meet govt regulations. If anyone liked those policies, it's because they never got sick and tried to get paid for their treatments. These people will get new plans with better coverage by shopping for them. Some will pay more, many will pay less, especially those who qualify for supplements. It was dumb of Obama to make that promise, only because insurance companies will f*ck anyone over to make a buck. He should have seen that coming. Why do we never hear about the millions of people who will not get ANY coverage because of the repub controlled states who will not expand medicaid, even though the feds will cover all of it for three years and 90% after that? It will almost be a freebie, and they would rather let those people die than help out Obamacare in any way, even for no cost. These motherf*ckers should rot in hell for what they are doing to Americas, yet the conservative corporate media will not address that, only harp on Obamacare's "failure" because of some website issues. Un-freaking-believable. I am truly ashamed to be a part of this shitty business anymore.

They are NOT losing their insurance because the policies "sucked" as you so eloquently described.
They are LOSING them as a direct result of the ACA. If they WANTED MORE COVERAGE THEY COULD HAVE BOUGHT DIFFERENT POLICIES.
See the difference? See how that works? Of course not.
And you've completely bypassed the point of this thread, which is the LIES told by the president that garnered the support of the people in favor of the ACA.
Do you think people would have rallied behind it it they knew their rates would increase 41%?
[Figure reported here: http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2013/11/04/49-state-analysis-obamacare-to-increase-individual-market-premiums-by-avg-of-41-subsidies-flow-to-elderly/]
They would NEVER have supported it. Ever.

Ummm...wrong, hasbeen there...
These people were sold policies that they more than likely thought covered them but were all the insurance companies offered that they could afford. See, the purpose of the AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE plan is to give people affordable insurance that actually gives coverage. "If they wanted more coverage they could have bought different policies"...wrong. No doubt they were buying what they could afford, which isn't much depending on the state you live in. This makes a more uniform insurance package for people who can now get coverage with pre-existing conditions. Again, I see you have NOTHING to say about the people who get no coverage in the red states that won't expand Medicaid? Millions of Americans are being denied insurance by repubs, and not a word about it in the conservative corporate media. Or by ANY of the repubs on this board. The silence is deafening.

You are assuming that every person who bought a policy:
Needed tons of care for illness
Wanted more coverage
The biggest lie people believe is that poor people are stupid. They aren't.
"If they wanted more coverage they could have bought different policies"...wrong.
Well, yes they could have. Why didn't they buy another policy? Cost? Want? Need? YOU DON'T KNOW WHY. So don't assume. The insurance companies would have taken their payment, no problem.
This makes a more uniform insurance package for people who can now get coverage with pre-existing conditions.
I have no issues with insurance companies offering coverage for preexisting conditions. AGAIN: that is NOT what this thread is about. Congress could have easily passed a preexisting condition regulation without the ACA. Why didn't it?
Millions of Americans are being denied insurance by repubs, and not a word about it in the conservative corporate media. Or by ANY of the repubs on this board. The silence is deafening.
I am not a Republican. Get OFF the useless left/right distractive argument garbage and LOOK AT THE ISSUES. Drop the football metaphor of my team is better than yours na na na na NAA NAAAH crap. I don't play that game. And last I checked republicans weren't in charge of the health insurance companies.
Here's a question for YOU:
Since premiums have INCREASED, since deductibles have INCREASED, how are people going to PAY for actual healthcare? Doctor visits, prescriptions and lab tests? Where is that money going to come from?
Health insurance DOES NOT MEAN healthcare.
Here's another question:
If healthy young adults are supposed to join in the system and pay their way, why was family coverage EXTENDED TO AGE 26? Does that make sense? No, it doesn't.
The ACA does not guarantee HEALTHCARE to anyone. It simply forces them to purchase insurance.
It always astounds me that people think health insurance means healthcare. It doesn't.
Another question: Yes or No answer
Did the president LIE to the America people about keeping their ability to KEEP the same healthcare plan and the same doctor?
Again, yes or no answer.
