I saw the latest dot.com insult to writers today in the job listings with a series of jobs for Joonbug.com. It is seeking "talented writers" for a variety of topics, including culinary, charities, gossip, etc. The candidate has to be fast, accurate, talented, etc. Oh--and WORK FOR FREE. No pay, benefits, etc, but it's good "to boost your portfolio and exposure." Yet another of countless examples of the arrogance and greed of dot.coms who expect something for nothing from writers. Do they demand that from their tech support? From their computer suppliers? Their landlords? Guess what? All of them would tell them to take a hike. Here's a deal, Joonbug: you have your guys create a website for me and maintain it and update as necessary. I can't pay you, but I'll put a nice plug on the website for you. It'll be good for your exposure. |

The real question is why is the MB job board listing a "job" that does not pay. to me, the insult is posting this in the first place. |

Sorry, VG; I should have been clearer. Glad to say it wasn't mb, but a general jobs listing site. |
