Blunt ‘60 Mins’ reporter speaks out

'60 Minutes” reporter Lara Logan is blasting the US government for what she is calling a “major lie” about the war against the Taliban.
“There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years” that is driven by “Taliban apologists” who claim “they are just the poor moderate, gentler, kinder Taliban,” Logan told a good government group last week in Chicago, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
“It’s such nonsense!”
The speech is a major departure for a CBS reporter, who is usually prohibited from going public with political opinions.
Logan said she was speaking out because she had just returned from Afghanistan for a report for “60 Minutes,” and had seen that the Taliban were making a serious comeback.
“I chose this subject because, one, I can’t stand that there is a major lie being propagated,” Logan said.
“You’re not listening to what the people who are fighting you say about this fight,” she said.speaking to the Pentagon and White House, according to the report. “In your arrogance, you think you write the script.”
