Or, as we affectionally know here, 'Batshit Crazy Bachmann'...throws in the towell...

In a rambling nine minute video, she praised herself for trying to repeal ObamaCare for the 37th time---but unfortunately--left out some her previous highlights...

Like the seven foot tall Doctor who told her ObamaCare means he has to call the IRS before treating a patient...Or Obama has "anti-american views"...for that matter, members of Congress should be investigated for having anti-American views...Under ObamaCare, 13-yr olds can have "abortion field trips"...Obama's "secret indoctrination camps" (and Census Data can PUT you in those camps)...Iraq should re-imbusrse US for being invaded...The Founding Fathers ‘Worked Tirelessly’ To End Slavery....HPV Vaccine Leads To ‘Mental Retardation’...

There's more, but that's enough. OF COURSE, this has NOTHING to do with the investigations into shady campaign practices. (That's like Eric Holder resigning this month to 'spend more time with his family'...)

Oh well. We'll miss her...just like Todd Akin, Allen West, Joe Walsh, Richard Mourdock, O'Donnell. Angle, DeMint, and of course Sarah herself.

(The Retirement video: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2013/0529/Tea-party-firebrand-Michele-Bachmann-to-quit-House-next-year-video

(As KRISTEN WIIG, SNL comedian: (Impersonating Bachmann put it) "Well I'm disappointed that my campaign has come to a close. I am also looking forward to resting, to spending some time at home, and most of all to blinking for the first time since this all started."

Rumor has it

...Bachmann's leaving Congress so she can be the chief lobbyist for the Bat Guano industry.

orthicon Posted - 5/29/2013 11:24:00 PM | show profile | flag this post

wedll, this of course leaves her free to..

move to Montana, or Wyoming, or Idaho, or wherever the hell she said she would move if Minnesota's governor signed same-sex marriage into law..

he did..

so hit the road, Michele..you won't be missed by much of anyone..except comedians..of which you are one, in a twisted kind of way..

a sad commentary on modern journalists

Sounds like you guys well represent the modern newsroom...bashing anyone who is not pro Obama and turning your journalistic eyes away from anything that may cast Obama and his crowd in a bad light.

I hope to some day see people who call themselves journalists actually doing old fashioned, investigative reporting instead of carrying water for the emperor.

VTexan Posted - 5/30/2013 12:36:26 AM | show profile | flag this post

Wrong on so many counts

1. I'm not a journalist
2. I don't work in a newsroom
3. I don't carry water for anyone

You, on the other hand, if you're a journalist (or if you have a pulse) ought to want intelligent, thoughtful people as representatives. If you know Bachmann at all, you know she's neither of those things. It's not because she's conservative; it's because she's stupid.

Choose your battles newscred. You'll lose that fictitious cred that your title mistakenly suggests.

mpdodgson Posted - 5/30/2013 3:57:23 AM | show profile | flag this post

Seriously newscred?

Bashing Bachmann is somehow a "sad commentary on modern journalists"?? Not bashing her would be a sad commentary on anyone who still has a cerebral cortex.

You smell conspiracy ("the modern newsroom"), when in fact all you have to do is LOOK, LISTEN, WATCH, READ, to what the person said, and she's clearly un-hinged.

When you write "carrying water for the emperor" {THE EMPEROR?!?!?!} You mean the President of the United States?? Clearly shows you've got your mind made up.

That's one of the nicer points of journalism in 2013. As opposed to your "journalists actually doing old fashioned, investigative reporting" critique...Sometimes, not always, but sometimes, all you have to do is hit 'rewind/playback' and you GET your subject hanging themselves.

Doesn't exist anyone.

Corporations report what they want you to know. Nothing more, nothing less. Any exposes are being done by alternate media sites.

(Sorry)

"Corporations report what they want you to know. Nothing more, nothing less. Any exposes are being done by alternate media sites."

Don't confuse the "editorial pages(s)" with the day to day reporting. And be careful with that broad brush. In broadcast news; I've worked for the Hobby Family, Cowles Communication, Cox, and even Hearst. Not once did the "Corporation" ever tell me what to write, what to lead with, what to cover (or not), etc etc.

That may not be the way with other outfits, like Murdoch/Fox, but I would never work for them.

*** Corporations report what they want you to know. Nothing more, nothing less. ***

How silly! I guess I must have missed them secretly planting that chip in my brain, huh?

If you ever want to know how a newsroom operates, I invite you -- yet again -- to ask. In your world, it may not be better than assuming, but there's no argument that asking it is smarter.

VTexan Posted - 5/30/2013 11:43:55 AM | show profile | flag this post

I don't understand this post

What about "corporations report what they want you to know, nothing more, nothing less" is fallacious?

Village Gal Posted - 5/30/2013 12:37:26 PM | show profile | flag this post

Sounds like Newscred does not really know anyone
who works in the journalism business. Is he a failed
journalist? a wanna be who hurls insults at a profession
he can't break into? Just wondering why so much venom
and cheap shots. Nor does he read much. The liberal NY Times has recently run many columns by the prize winning journalist
Maureen Dowd that have been very critical of Obama.

Bachman leaving is very good news for Republicans

it's just tv folks Posted - 5/30/2013 1:43:55 PM | show profile | flag this post

one talking head speculation

Bachmann might run for Senate against Al Franken! Now I'm guessing that's just wishful thinking, but wouldn't that be fun?!?!?

mpdodgson Posted - 5/30/2013 2:22:57 PM | show profile | flag this post

VillageGal;

"Bachman leaving is very good news for Republicans" (IMO) You got that right. Anything to take the stink off the brand.

By now, anyone following politics should have caught Bob Dole this Sunday on Fox. "Senator Dole, in ailing health, made news by declaring that he and Ronald Reagan "couldn't have made it" in today's Republican party. “I think they ought to put a sign on the national committee doors that says ‘closed for repairs’ until New Year’s Day next year and spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas,” Dole said when asked about the state of today’s Republicans."

Ouch. I was struck by the stats that after 8 years in Congress, Bachmann sponsored 58 bills. 1 (ONE) passed the House...you guessed it...repealing ObamaCare. Which of course was not passed into law. But she did set up the Tea Party conference. Thanks for all your hard work you lazy microphone seeking (________)

Well, we still have Rand Paul and Marco, and Ted Cruz, and of course Issa, to fill out the crazy quotient. The really truly sad part is--I still expect the GOP to gain seats in the mid-terms. But as dole indicated, if you think you're going to take back the WH with the current tactics/philosophy; you're crazier than Bachmann.

GD:

Here are three killer stories, guaranteed to gain attention, sell papers, get web hits, and tv viewers:

1) Every mass shooting incident was committed by someone taking or withdrawing from psychotropic pharmaceuticals. Why aren't the drugs being talked about in an open forum? Why aren't these drugs being banned/removed from the market?

2) Over 100,000 people are killed each YEAR by correctly prescribed, correctly taken drugs. Why isn't the FDA investigating? Yes, there is a peer-reviewed, published study that PROVES this. Find it.

3) Monsanto does not allow the testing of its GMO seeds for ANY research. Period. Before you buy the seeds, you MUST sign a waiver that you will not do any testing/research on the seeds for any reason. Every study by U.S. researchers on Monsanto GMO seeds has been sponsored by Monsanto. Academics and researchers that speak out have lost their jobs. Why? And just who is Michael Taylor?

These are HUGE stories, record-breaking stories. No one will touch them. Why?

Go ahead, I DARE YOU to try to report one of these. It will be killed in a heartbeat. Try it.

beenthere Posted - 5/30/2013 4:04:56 PM | show profile | flag this post

Or, here's a really good one:

How does an industry (biotech) get a rider on a bill that says if their product injuries/sickens/kills someone, they do NOT have to take it off the market? yes, I am referring to the so-called Monsanto Protection Act.

Let's pretend they made cribs. If the cribs malfunctioned and killed a bunch of babies, well guess what? There is no regulatory group/federal court that can force the cribs off the market.

Does that sound sane to you? How did that get tacked onto a BUDGET BILL? And signed into law?

But, yeah, you're probably right. Your editor would say go right ahead, do the story, free reign reporting. That's why there are so many stories on the Kardashians. Cuz reporters are reporting.

mpdodgson Posted - 5/30/2013 10:43:16 PM | show profile | flag this post

beenthere; I was curious,

So I googled "Every mass shooting incident was committed by someone taking or withdrawing from psychotropic pharmaceuticals." That just didn't sound right from the get-go.

What I found was a piece from the Super-Pro-Gun "Ammoland". See...Guns don't kill people, people on Seroquel do. Gotcha.

http://www.ammoland.com/2013/04/every-mass-shooting-in-the-last-20-years-shares-psychotropic-drugs/#axzz2UpWFYEA5

I woudln't trust this source any farther than I could throw Wayne LaPierre's butt.

And Reporters don't tell their Editor/Producer you "Find it"....it's the reporters job to have accurate sources. You are right about one thing though...if you came near me with one of these pieces of fiction with nothing to back it up, you're damned right I'd kill it.

*** GD ... Go ahead, I DARE YOU to try to report one of these. It will be killed in a heartbeat. Try it. ***

I'm curious why you picked me out of the crowd here.

I don't do advocacy journalism. I don't work with "let's pretend."

You don't work for a credible journalism outlet. You don't assign, and you don't pay. I don't report or write for anyone who doesn't work for a credible outlet, doesn't assign and doesn't pay.

AGAIN, if you're interested in knowing how a newsroom works, take your fingers out of your ears and ask. Assumptions don't cut it. You're ridiculously guilty yourself of the falsehoods that you try to perpetrate about newsrooms.

SPC

I wish I could take credit for the "Batshit Crazy Bachmann" moniker, but I can't. It goes back years...

"We have checked [Michele Bachmann] 13 times, and seven of her claims [have been found] to be false and six have been found to be ridiculously false ... She is unusual in that regard that she has never gotten a rating higher than false."
—Bill Adair, PolitiFact.com

”[Michele] Bachmann is a religious zealot whose brain is a raging electrical storm of divine visions and paranoid delusions... Bachmann is exactly the right kind of completely batshit crazy... crazy in the sense that she's living completely inside her own mind, frenetically pacing the hallways of a vast sand castle she's built in there, unable to meaningfully communicate with the human beings on the other side of the moat, who are all presumed to be enemies." (Matt Taibbi; Rolling Stone)

It's like using "Slick Willie" for Clinton, or "Dubya" for Bush, or "Klondike Barbie" for Palin. It is what it is.

beenthere must not have been there...

when Adam Lanza's autopsy report was released.

No drugs -- prescription or otherwise -- and no alcohol in his system.

Bet you also still believe there's a link between vaccines and autism.

Give it up, beenthere. You're way to gullible to believe any real reporting.

Dodgson's Politifact post above

...is the bottom line hear. A public person who repeatedly makes false claims in front of TV cameras, in nationally televised debates is either an inveterate liar...or they're batshit crazy.

Take your choice. If you prefer inveterate liar to batshit crazy...I don't see how that leaves your candidate looking any better.
