Mitt Romney is showing desperation. He drops birtherism into a campaign speech. http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/08/romney-makes-birth-certificate-joke-133091.html Hey, Mitt! Obama showed us his birth certificate. Why not show us YOUR tax returns? What's Mitt hiding? |

who cares about what either Romney or Obama paid in taxes? Who cares about his tax returns. I'm sure he's made a lot of money in years past and has lost a lot of money and he's tithed a lot of money to his church and he's given a lot of money to charity. He uses the same tax system you use in determining his tax liability. He's a man who's worked hard and run businesses and has taken chances trying to save companies (and of course make money) and he's not always been successful at that, but he's been successful enough to have saved many companies that have been able to keep people employed. Now, let's talk about Obama and his successes both before and during his term in office. Lots of smiles, lots of talk. Oh, yeah, he's working hard to create a welfare state. |

Aside from it being yet another gaffe from Romney ...he says he hasn't been asked for a birth certificate. What happened to all the far right wingers screaming that from now on candidates for President should be made to show their birth certificate--NOT the short one either. They somehow forgot their own demands when the white guy declared his run? |

No honor, no principle. Remember when McCain took the mic from that crazy lady calling Obama an Arab ... Took the high road and said his opponent was a decent family man?. Of course the crowd booed McCain. Because that's the kind of stupid mob that makes up the GOP. But it sure showed guts and leadership. That's a man of principle. Even with an unhinged, off-message, running mate McCain stood against the attack track. And he never whined about negatives, maybe because he was the target so much from his own party, but because he had the experience to understand that politics. Man up. If you don't like it, don't run. The GOPs boy Mitt doesn't get it. He's a slick hypocrite that gets in undies in a bunch at the slightest criticism, decries negative, and then gleefully launches attacks of his own. I don't know it was possible to be a crybaby and a bully at the same time. Talk about entitlements. Someone snatch the silver spoon already. Maybe thats what he learned at Cranston, and from his trust fund and wall street buddies. (destroy jobs, cry about tax). Ang the GOP thinks this a guy who's going to take the 3am call? Stare down Putin and China? (whaaaaaaa! You woke me up! Not fair!) |

Obama is NOT going to stare down Putin or Wen Jiabao. He is much more philosophically aligned with THEM than he is with US. Obama wants to reduce America's global footprint (influence, economic power, military superiority, etc.) so that we are more on a par with foreign countries. He does not support the concept of American exceptionalism. He restricts the development of our natural resources while sending billions of our tax dollars to South America for the development of their petroleum reserves...saying we want to become their best customer, thereby opening a pipeline for the redistribution of more US wealth to the third-world. Both Russia and China are becoming more globally adventurous. Iran and Syria are thumbing their noses at the US and their proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas, are preparing to aid the Muslim Brotherhood in the destruction of Israel...all of this while Obama turns a blind eye. He's already lost Egypt and Libya to Muslim extremists. You people are so willfully ignorant that you cannot see what's happening. |

Obama did more than stare down ... ... He made the call the take down bin laden. You cons forgot about the terrorist that killed all those people on 9/11' put al Qaeda on the back burner and got America stuck in the quagmire of Iraq all in the name of exceptionalism. Y'all had 8 years. You failed. Obama didn't. the fact, undisputed, is that Americas standing in the world ... trust , reputation, effectiveness ..was never lower than under the bush years. Obama restored it. And sorry, hoss. You dont get to decide and judge that. Dems don't, GOP dont, America doesn't. The world does. You can make claims and shout and whine and lie but it doesn't matter. there is no argument in world opinion . As for Romney, even his BFF Bibi Netanyahu down plays their friendship, despite the pandering . Conservative governments in UK mocks him, in Canada actively distances its trade and energy policy. Merkel is "creeped out" Yer boy mitt is a non-starter as an international leader Frankly, People should be asking for his birth certificate. Not to check if he's American ... but to verify his gender. |

What planet exactly do you live on? And for how long?? "Obama is NOT going to stare down Putin ..." Putin was President of Russia from 2000 to 2008. Exectly when did President Bush "stare him down"?? ("At one point Bush looked at his Secretary of State and said (with a suitable Texas twang) “Powell, I looked into Putin’s eyes and I saw his soul” to which Powell replied: “Mr. President, I looked into President Putin’s eyes and I saw the KGB”.) Romney's even dumber than that. According to him, Russia is "without question, our No. 1 geopolitical foe". REALLY?? Without question?? Not Iran, North Korea, or the Finns?? "Obama wants to reduce America's global footprint (influence, economic power, military superiority, etc.)" REALLY?? Exactly where and how?? He's not macho enough for you?? Would starting a couple of wars make you feel better?? So you can sit back and watch--AGAIN?? "He does not support the concept of American exceptionalism." REALLY?? What part of "In no other country on earth, is my story even possible" don't you comprehend??? Or, "Hope is what led a band of colonists to rise up against an empire; what led the greatest of generations to free a continent and heal a nation; what led young women and young men to sit at lunch counters and brave fire hoses and march through Selma and Montgomery for freedom's cause. Hope is what led me here today -- with a father from Kenya, a mother from Kansas; and a story that could only happen in the United States of America. Hope is the bedrock of this nation; the belief that our destiny will not be written for us, but by us; by all those men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is; who have courage to remake the world as it should be." Has anyone heard Mr Romney come even CLOSE to that?? The foreign policy successes of this Administration are mind boggling (thanks in part to that lady at the State Department as well). BESIDES the war on terror and getting Bin Laden. "Romney's principal charge against Obama is that he has angered America's allies and emboldened its enemies. Again, it turns out that some recently released data contradict the claim. The Pew Foundation released one of its global surveys in June, soliciting opinions from several countries around the world. When asked if they have "some" or a "great deal of" trust in President Obama, the numbers are overwhelmingly positive. In Britain, for example, which is Romney's first stop on his foreign tour, 80% of people trust Obama, compared with 16% who trusted George W. Bush. All countries surveyed have much higher approval ratings of America in 2012 than they did in 2008, when Bush was President." (Zakaria) "willfully ignorant' indeed. |

Happens every time and some of he best examples are right here on this board. Whenever leftist radicals are criticized...and especially when their narrative is questioned and/or proven wrong...they stop trying to argue the point and becom personally insulting. This person...whomever he/she is...just seriously and gratuitously slandered Mitt Romney. And he/she doesn't have a clue about Obama's relationsship...or lack of same...with other countries and leaders. As far as our standing in the world...as of now we have none. That will not be restored until we have a strong, pro-military leader who will repair the damage done by Obama. Yes, Obama went after bin Laden and is (or was) keeping up the drone strikes on al Qaeda. That's because bin Laden and his followers were in no way friends and never would have been...as Obama thinks Putin, Wen, Assad, Khamenei, Chavez, etc., might be. Obama is a globalist, and anti-colonialist, pure and simple. He thinks the US, Great Britain, etc., are colonialist countries. He hated Churchill because he perceived him as a colonialist. That's why he returned the Churchill bronze to the UK. |

And back on topic... As far as Romneys bad joke regarding his birth certificate, that's what I consider it--a bad joke, just trying to play to his base. There have been a lot of stupid things said in the past year (and many many more to come from both sides). This was just one of them. No biggie. I object to Romney because he's a spineless hypocrite, not his sense of humor. |

And meanwhile ...no one's asked to see his birth certificate. Is it --that he's not black --that he doesn't have Muslim relatives --that he didn't live in Malaysia --he doesn't sleep with black women Why the hell does Romney, after the batshit crazy process of demanding Obama's long form birth certificate, say casually that no one's asked him for his? |

Romney had to provide SOME fodder for the batshit crazy left wingers who were obsessing over the Todd Akin non-issue. |

Romney's birther "joke" Just another example of Romney's willingness to do ANYTHING he thinks will get him elected. Mittens said he wants to talk about the issues. Is the President's birth certificate an important issue for the United States of America or just the for the hate filled wing of the Republican party? Why does Mittens feel like he still needs to fire up the base? Why does Mitt feel he needs to pander to the racists at the expense of intelligent Independent voters? Why won't Romney show us his birth certificate? Why won't Romney show us his taxes? What is Willard Mitt Romney hiding? Anyone notice how Mittens wallowed in the crowds adoration for his birther joke? This guy has no moral/ethical core. |

Absolutely disgusting Are we to believe Romney had no idea what he was saying? If he's failed that test, he's abdicated the right to be considered a viable candidate for the Presidency of the United States. If he believes that kind of racist, gutter politics is how he can be elected, then he is quite despicable and unfit for office. As a registered Independent who prides herself on analyzing a candidate based on their individual merits, I cannot find any factual basis to determine that Mitt Romney is anything but bad for America. The rallying birther cry to the racist right was the final straw. |
