Why are these Kiwi parents protecting a greedy medical elite?! Are they actors?
I'm just asking questions!!!!!
"A boy who almost died of tetanus before Christmas is home and on the mend, but his parents are desperate for others to vaccinate their children after they did not.
Auckland couple Ian and Linda Williams thought they had made an informed decision against immunising their three children because of concerns over adverse reactions.
But they regretted their decision when middle child Alijah contracted the potentially fatal disease just before Christmas, and was put in an induced coma on life support at Starship hospital.
They immediately immunised their other children and wrote to Alijah's school to warn parents who had not vaccinated against the disease and others such as whooping cough.
"It was me that put my son in this situation," Mr Williams said.
"Parents like us make the decision to not vaccinate on very little factual information about the actual consequences of the diseases - massive pain, disability and death - and a lot of non-factual, emotive information from the internet stating inflated figures on the frequency and severity of adverse reactions and conspiracy theories about 'evil' doctors, governments and drug companies."
Seven-year-old Alijah is among the 90 per cent of people who get tetanus and survive, though he still gets spasms and will require ongoing medication and rehabilitation.
He was discharged in a wheelchair on January 8 after 26 days in hospital. He faces a 12-month recovery including having to learn to eat and walk again."
IT'S A COnSiRAcY!!?!??!1!

it's an interesting story,
Just don't think it's a major political issue by any means.
Parents not immunizing their kids for a variety of scare tactics reasons, yes, that's important. (Anyone see that 'House' episode when he talked about really small coffins?? Classic)

The forum is Current Affairs, not just politics...
... But more importantly, if enough parents decide to ignore science and not immunize, the risk of outbreaks and epidemics (and risk to your child's health) increases.
Google herd immunity and critical threshold.
It's a case of stupidity, really, being infectious ...

You are correct
and I apologize.
While the 'Parents who do not immunize' is not a political topic per se, it is a needless tragedy. Often only touched upon with a Lifetime movie or a Jenny McCarthy daytime interview. I did not mean to dismiss it so lightly. mea culpa.

Which, of course, leads me to more science....
Because, science and research is important. It provides a basis of fact from which good and effective policy, which allows people to make knowlegable and informed decisions.
Like the health of their kids.
Which is why the NRA lobbying focuses has been to shut down all government funding into the health impact of guns, and to threaten private universities and scholars that pursue it..
Studies like this:
- Results show that regardless of storage practice, type of gun, or number of firearms in the home, having a gun in the home was associated with an increased risk of firearm homicide and firearm suicide in the home.
-People who carry guns are far likelier to get shot – and killed – than those who are unarmed, a study of shooting victims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has found. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17922-carrying-a-gun-increases-risk-of-getting-shot-and-killed.html
In FACT, "Shootings and killings in deprived areas of Chicago and Baltimore have plummeted by between 41 and 73 per cent thanks to a programme that treats violence as if it is an infectious disease."
See where I'm getting at.
Guns are a disease, not the cure. And stupidity is really. infectious.

Allow me to make a offer a friendly observation. Our time on this earth is limited and precious. Please do not waste one second of it reading this kind of drivel much less responding.

So true, blacked! Nobody really wants to look back at his/her life someday and say: And I spent 694 days reading preposterous reports and arguing with Web trolls.

That's the best you got blacked?
Can't argue the studies and science?
Next time you show up to a gun fight, don't bring, er .... Well bring something resembling an argument based on fact and reason and proven conclusions.
You know ...science? Citations? Statistics?
You're starting to sound like a Leafs fan, ignoring all evidence for the faint hope of some long gone era of success, that had nothing to do with the values you're arguing for now....

Canadian, It's your time
Waste it any way you want. I am not wasting any of my time offering any kind of reasoned response to your latest trolling expedition.
For what it is worth, reading your posts occupies my time while I am "on the throne". I just find that very appropriate.
