NBC is reporting that

the euphoria over Barack Obama's election is waning, the image of the US in the world is slipping.
Contrary to his stated goal of repairing the image of the US in the world, President Obama seems to be heading it in the opposite direction. Cited factors include US international surveillance, the Edward Snowden manhunt, drone strikes in foreign countries and the administration's failure to effectively deal with the situation in Syria.
Along with all that, of course, is the president's diminishing popularity at home for a variety of reasons including unemployment, Obamacare, taxes and the number of scandal that involve Executive Department agencies and personnel.

Cruiser, celebrating Obama's downfall...
First, he lists items we on the left wanted Obama to kill off from the Bush years -- the things that hurt our international standing.
But, cruzo and other cons wanted to keep those things in place.
Then he misleads about Obama's standing at home -- while Obama has nearly twice the approval rating as the only GOP President in the last 20 years.
Unemployment? Only holding steady because so many more are returning to the workforce as the economy continues to add jobs.
Obamacare? Gee, he's listening to people about implementation and making sure it doesn't hurt businesses.
Taxes? Last I checked, a clear majority of Americans want higher taxes to pay for the services they want.
Scandals?!? What scandals? You mean the nontroversies that continue to blow up in Rep Issa's face?
Whine and moan for another three years about Obama. It'll get you in shape to whine an moan for another eight years about President Hillary Clinton.
Just keep saying that to yourself, cruzo..."President. Hillary. Clinton."

Perhaps you haven't gotten the word
since your participation here has been sparse lately (thankfully).
I've resolved to reply only to those who meaningfully contribute to the discussions.

cruise; you continue to demonstrate
How you can be somewhat right, and very wrong all at the same time.
"the euphoria over Barack Obama's election is waning, the image of the US in the world is slipping." Well you're right...I don't think anyone ever said the euphoria was going to last forever.
But this is where you veer off the ride. Our "image in the world" is down a little--from when Obama took office. The BBC poll in question has the US at 45% Fav to 34% Unfav.
The article you point out states "The rating had bottomed out in 2007 at a net negative 30, climbed above zero after Obama was elected and then began to fall in 2012 – although it is still far higher than in 2007." SO--we went from NEGATIVE 30 under Bush to POSITIVE 45 Now. My oh my that's a friggin disaster.
You have the same reading comprehension problem with the presidents domestic approval as well. Bushs lowest was about 22% when he left. Obama stands at 45.3% today. My oh my, there's your 'scandal'...
I don't know why you do this to yourself sometimes...

...spanked, changed, and put to bed.
Always fun to watch, cruiser. We thank you for repackaging the far right wing into so easily a dismembered whole. Speaking of hole, you'd be best advised to stop digging. You're in one.

Wait. We Care What People in Other Countries Think?
Like European countries? Not the old ones, right cruiser?
I mean butter my freedom fries y'all, that didn't seem to matter much around ten years ago.

You know, you just have to be happy that the unpatriotic, punkin-headed kooks on this forum who claim to be Republicans do not represent or resemble real-life Republicans.
Posted - 7/6/2013 1:49:58 PM | show profile | flag this post
My brother, who was a TV news director and self-identifies as a conservative Republican, has a name for them: He calls them the Clown Party.
Posted - 7/6/2013 2:09:17 PM | show profile | flag this post
that's the sad part Grateful
they "do not represent or resemble real-life Republicans." Unfortunately, they often do.
(Certain polling) 64% of Republican are still Birthers. 68% of them believe in demonic possession while only 48% believe that climate change is real. 58% believe God created man in his present form withing the last 10,000 years. The majority (in some polls) still believe Obbama is Muslim, Marxist, Communist, Socialist--or MY favorite--ONE IN FIVE Repubs think Obama is the Anti-Christ. Really. And that's this year.
Okay okay--those are just the crazies. No. To me, every time Boehner and company refuse to consider a JOBS bill over another anti-Obamacare proposal, or Planned Parenthood ban, or abortion bill, or Hey!! Lets defund ACORN again!!--These are supposed to be responsible lawmakers. They're the crazies.
Posted - 7/6/2013 3:13:46 PM | show profile | flag this post
and the bottom line is..the POLITICIANS aren't the crazies..
so much as they are scared to death they'll lose their office to one of the TRUE crazies..which some have already done..
so it's better to mouth support for the crazies' ideas, and NOT do anything at ALL that might piss any one of the crazies off enough to run against them..
it's already happened to some..where do you think we got Bachmann, gohmert, cruz, lee, chaffetz and all the other wackos who have popped up in the last five years?

You're onto something, orth. In the same time frame, we've also seen an upsurge in leadership seminars and workshops for first-time elected officials -- for a reason.

Then, thanks for replying to me, cruzo...

play the patriotic card much? i know grateful deadline. criticisms of dear leader is unpatriotic. and racist.
"64% of Republican are still Birthers"
mpdodgson, makes you wish democrats had never created the birther issue ?
seriously? the obama cult of personalty is creepy weird. so you on the left have no room to talk about crazy.
Posted - 7/8/2013 2:22:01 PM | show profile | flag this post
It's that 64% of GOPers...
who look foolish. Or just plain ignorant.
Posted - 7/8/2013 2:56:31 PM | show profile | flag this post
con? You're missing the point(s) again
" criticisms of dear leader is unpatriotic. and racist." No...they're neither, they just make you sound like the dumbest tool in the shed. "Dear Leader" "Messiah", blah blah...you just come off as an idiot.
"mpdodgson, makes you wish democrats had never created the birther issue ?" I don't give a crap who STARTS a whacko conspiracy/hoax/myth. It's the amount of people who still believe it after it's been totally false that bothers me. Whether it's the 'fake moon landing', or demonic posession, or Obama is a planted mole from Commie Socialist Kenya--once this crap is proven crap--STOP it. Rip the tin foil from your head.
"the obama cult of personalty is creepy weird" YEA. The anti-Obama cult people IS creepy weird. The "Anti-Christ"?!?!? Seriously??? You just couldn't let it go with "I hear he fathered black kids" and let it go at that???

If you don't mind please post the link to those polls you quote. I looked and could not find them. Thanks
|it's just tv folks||

This would be the poll:
It contains the 64% of republicans believe the birther conspiracy. It also shows other conspiracy beliefs from both the gop and Dems.

Polls are funny things
Take this one for example. A group of 814 registered voters were asked if "President Obama is hiding important information about his background and early life" and 64% of registered republicans responded "probably true". And from that it is reported that 64% of ALL republicans are birthers. Interesting to say the least.

Statistical analysis is a funnier thing
How a random nationwide sample is weighted to be used to represent the larger population out of which it came.
Posted - 7/9/2013 4:08:55 PM | show profile | flag this post
Actually polls are pretty serious math...
Posted - 7/9/2013 4:34:50 PM | show profile | flag this post
Yes they are orthicon
And like I said you can word the question in such a manner to generate the desired response. To go from saying it is probably true that "President Obama is hiding important information about his background and early life" to it is a fact that Obama is not a US citizen is a huge leap. At least IMHO.
Posted - 7/9/2013 4:44:42 PM | show profile | flag this post
blackedtape; What I said was,
quote: "(Certain polling) 64% of Republican are still Birthers" (From the poll: "The most popular of these conspiracy theories is the belief that President Obama is hidingimportant information about his background and early life, which would include what’s oftenreferred to “birtherism.” Thirty-six percent of Americans think this is probably true, including 64 percent of Republicans and 14 percent of Democrats" (You don't consider 64 to 14 a wide enough gap to at least consider the possibility that we're talking about Birther Conspiracy nuts here??) IMHO of course...
http://www.scribd.com/doc/120815791/Fairleigh-Dickinson-poll-on-conspiracy-theories So it appears I was correct.
Furthermore: "A staggering 68 percent of registered Republican voters stated that they believe demonic possession is real. Meanwhile, only 48 percent of self-identified Republicans believe in another equally if not more scary natural phenomenon: climate change.
The poll was conducted by Public Policy Polling, touted by NPR as “one of the most prolific polling outfits in the country.”
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/10/halloween-poll-results.html So i guess I was right there too.
"58% believe God created man in his present form withing the last 10,000 years" http://www.gallup.com/poll/155003/hold-creationist-view-human-origins.aspx So I was right there too.
And when I said " (in some polls) still believe Obbama is Muslim, Marxist, Communist, Socialist"...that's easy to Google and depends on the date and location. Worst was propably MS ("Among Mississippi Republicans, just 12% say Christian, 52% say Muslim, and 36% aren't sure" PPP again)
"MY favorite--ONE IN FIVE Repubs think Obama is the Anti-Christ."
This crap is pretty easy to look up. It's still sad and disgusting, but easy to look up.
Posted - 7/9/2013 4:45:07 PM | show profile | flag this post
And that response was meant for "etaoin"
Not orthicon. My apologies.
