Democrat thoughts of a "mandate" are pure fantasy. Public opinion remains pretty much the same as it was before the election.

Only 50 percent approve of Obama's job performance and congress...BOTH parties...continues to have a DISapproval rating of around 60 percent or greater.

And 55 percent find the country going in the wrong direction.

I wonder how these figures will change after dozens of new, restrictive and job-killing federal regulations go into effect after January 1st.

Are you serious?

Maybe people are pissed off that the Repubs will not negotiate in good faith on ANYTHING. They have not passed any jobs bills and refuse to compromise on the fiscal cliff despite the fact they got thrashed in the election. They held the House but lost several seats and would have been decimated if it weren't for their Gerrymandering. They lost the Congressional vote by millions overall. Try to start living in the real world.

You seem to have missed the other polls...

that don't paint such a rosy picture for the GOP.

And that 55% "Wrong Direction" number is an amazing improvement! It was well over 60% before the election in most polls. A sign that Obama is gaining ground with the American people.

And Republicans in the Marist Poll: "[A] majority of the poll’s Republicans do not support raising taxes on the wealthy. But they don’t support any of the spending cuts mentioned in the poll either. Not to Medicare or Medicaid, and not to the tax loopholes surveyed either. Republicans, in other words, don’t support much of anything except leaving things the way they are now."

Seems that Republicans want everything to stay exactly the way it is!

Meanwhile, Bloomberg, Pew and other polls show widespread support for the President's policies -- as much as 60%, and the highest approval ratings since 2009.

BTW, cruzo...

May want to read this:

"A new Pew Research poll finds that when it comes to the reaching an agreement to avoid the fiscal cliff, 55% say President Obama is making a serious effort to work with Republicans. But just 32% say Republican leaders are making a serious effort to work with Obama on a deficit deal.

"Also interesting: Obama's first post-reelection job approval rating has risen to 55%, up five points since July and 11 points since the start of the year. His job rating is markedly higher than President George W. Bush's first job measure (48%) after he won reelection in 2004.

"In contrast, just 25% approve of the way Republican leaders in Congress are doing their jobs, while 40% approve of Democratic leaders' job performance. "

You Tell 'em cruise buddy!

Then later tell them how you never resort to ad hominems or foul language, that's for disgusting libs.

Cruzo only resorts to ad hominem...

insults and foul language when he knows he's beat.

Our "casual readers" no doubt understand that when they see him deliver such, it's just his way of admitting he was wrong and he's conceded the argument.
