OMG, GOP, WTF?
Posted - 6/4/2013 5:51:56 PM | show profile | flag this post
With a variation or two, it's an old internet/boysonthebus/newsie phrase from the infamous Repub Debates Saga. But it's sure apropos this month.
Some background: Overall, polling wise, conservatives aren't viewed well. While the president is still about 50/50, the Repubs, especially in Congress, are in the basement. The Teabaggers approvals are in the toilet. And, oh yea, Romney lost. It was all over the news.
The Bob Dole interview ("I think they ought to put a sign on the national committee doors that says ‘Closed for repairs’ until New Year’s Day next year. Spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas,”) struck a few nerves, but that was like accupuncture on a corpse.
I loved the College Republicans Report this weekend. "Titled the “Grand Old Party for a Brand New Generation,” the report is sharply critical of the GOP on several fronts. The study slams some Republicans’ almost singular focus on downsizing Big Government and cutting taxes; candidates’ use of offensive, polarizing rhetoric; and the party’s belly-flop efforts at messaging and outreach,"
Samples: Perception of the party’s economic stance: “We’ve become the party that will pat you on your back when you make it, but won’t offer you a hand to help you get there.”
Big reason for the image problem: The “outrageous statements made by errant Republican voices.”
Words that up-for-grabs voters associate with the GOP: “The responses were brutal: closed-minded, racist, rigid, old-fashioned.”
So what do they know? A lot. Look at the passing of Sen Lautenberg this week. A lion of the Senate, the last WWII Vet, and the venom was actually spewing...
Which brings us to Christies dilemna; to appoint or to call a special election? Who cares?!?! The wingnuts hate him too--that RINO!!
(for the story, this is good: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2013/06/03/christie-faces-key-decision-over-appointment-to-lautenberg-seat/)
(For the We-Hate-Christie stuff, check this out, Geraldo volunteering, then read the comments:
And, of course, in the much bigger picture; the IssaWitchHunt Hearings have just turned into the absolute WORST thing the Republicans should allow to happen. Accusation, after lie, after accusation, after lie, after distortion, after embarassment by who's heading up this thing...Good Lord. This is "Advise and Consent" meets the "McCarthy Army Testimony". (Which of course explains why tinfoiler nutcases like cruise eat this shit up...which just further gives the Party a bad rep. Op-eds are not facts. What a concept.)
It was bad enough when you had renegade TeaBaggers (Cruz?) going against their own party Leadership--but when you have Sens like McCain and Graham trying to disavow the party from Issa (The WH Press Sec a paid liar? Really?)...Jeez. This very well could end up like McCarthy--Not only is the pres NOT impeached, but a member of Congress could end up 'condemned, censured, or reprimanded' ala McCarthy, Rangel, and Newt, to name a few.
I just can't believe I actually have to say this--PLEASE--OMG GOP? WTF?? Listen to McCain, Graham, Boehner, even Marco; and all the rest with a shred of sanity left. We have serious issues on our plate (Immigration, Budget, Judicial nominations, Military Sex Abuse, Gun legislation, to name a few). But the current BS is doing the country (and the GOP) no good at all.
Just my two cents.

Funny thing is
...they've been doing this navel gazing since November of last year. Apparently, the vast majority of the GOP hasn't learned a thing. See the strident voices here on this forum for more.
But in actuality, that's fine by me. To continue on the course they're going, or veering even further right (the Ted Cruz tack) will ensure they continue their party's march down the road toward inconsequential.

speaking of "batsh*t crazy"
charles johnson is that you? considering the history of johnson and his ilk, can you mpdodgson, prove that these comments were not a set up? johnson and his hand full of followers posted nasty, racist rants on hotair and mccain's blog.
then johnson screamed "SEE!!! SEE!!! THESE NASTY RACIST REPUBLICANS!!!"

Thanks for proving my point.
Are you high again con? Who the hell is Charles Johnson? Or his "ilk"? "can you mpdodgson, prove that these comments were not a set up?" We have NO IDEA what you're slurring about, and I don't have to 'prove' anything about two blogs I never brought up or even knew existed...
Crap on a cracker. You make cruise and his '157 visits that never happened' or his imaginary 'IRS regulations just issued, or his secret emails, or whatever the f*ck Brietbart posted this week...you make him sound almost normal.
Seek some help? Right.

sorry mp. i assume you read and understand the links you post. maybe point forward you should. that would save you from embarrassing yourself by linking to a site that has a history of planting sick, racist comments on conservative blogs then pointing them out has representation of right-wing posters.
crap on a cracker indeed.......

con? Did you even read it?
I provided a link--which linked to this: Brietbart
And I found those comments disgusting. (#3: "May he "rest" in Hell.......With his other Gun Grabbing, baby killing accomplices like Ted Kennedy....I apologize to nobody. ...")
I'm not embarrassed at all for posting a link to Breitbart. Unfortunately, the devoted fans of that site are "representation of right-wing posters". That's not my fault or problem.

con can tell you that Brietbart is the MOST liberal site on the Interwebs. Brietbart acts like a conservative site but it's really run by a bunch of bleeding hearts who post crazy stuff, racist rants and slurs against liberals just to make conservatives look bad!

charles johnson aka"littlegreenfootballs"and his lizards have history of posting "racist rants and slurs" on conservative sites.
charles johnson then breathlessly posts them on his site has examples of right wing racism and nastiness.
something he and his ilk have been doing for years. a simply google search will educate you.
etaoin shrdlu, strange nasty comments show up on a right-wing blog then these comments are repeated all over the left-wing blogs, no?
"Which brings us to Christies dilemna; to appoint or to call a special election? Who cares?!?!"
maybe taxpayers of new jersey who will have to cough up 24 million? maybe teachers? poor and middle class kids who have seen programs cut because gov. krispy-kreme said the state couldn't afford them?
