Since the middle of July, all the major polls show Obama's approval at just over 40 percent and his disapproval in the high 40s. Some even have his disapproval over 50 percent.

Gallup's current daily tracking poll shows Obama's disapproval at 52 percent...the first time it's been above the midpoint since August of 2012 when it hit 55 percent.

Clearly, his handling of the continuing resolution and the shutdown is not popular with Americans.

hey cruiztwit..howe about posting the numbers for..

congress?..for republicans?..

might give you a better frame of reference..

Quinntessential Posted - 10/5/2013 5:20:52 PM | show profile | flag this post

Comparing apples and oranges always gives you a "better frame of reference". Jeeeeez.

The shutdown is hurting President Obama more than team O had hoped. "We're winning" "We won't negotiate" will change soon.

What happens with the debt ceiling?

Wouldn't be surprised if his numbers drop below 40% before these two issues are solved.

What happens with immigration?

Will President Obama's low approval numbers hurt Democrats in 2014?

Does President Obama start walking and quacking like a lame duck?

cruiser Posted - 10/5/2013 5:41:02 PM | show profile | flag this post

I posted number that are pertinent to the topic

You leftist radicals want to change the "frame of reference" (read: change the subject) when the facts are decidedly NOT in your favor.

VTexan Posted - 10/5/2013 7:05:09 PM | show profile | flag this post

It's all relevant

Posting numbers about the President, then posting numbers about one of the other of the 3-legged stool that IS our government makes total sense. Especially since someone from the parties that comprise that other leg will produce the next President.

So let's use a little common sense here.

This isn't like comparing Presidential favorability with that of fast food restaurants.

I know it damages the point you're trying to make--that the President's lost a little ground. But when you consider how much those around him have lost by comparison, your point disappears quite rapidly. Which, of course, is why you recoil at context.

cruiser Posted - 10/5/2013 7:58:35 PM | show profile | flag this post

What I recoil at is you leftists

trying to substitute an alternate "context" by changing the subject in an effort to dilute the point. It's a common ploy the left uses to dodge issues.

You people need to get honest.

mpdodgson Posted - 10/6/2013 12:15:53 AM | show profile | flag this post

Why why why WHY?

cruise do you even go near the polls? And I mean with a ten foot pole poll??

"Obama losing ground with Americans...all the major polls show Obama's approval at just over 40 percent..." Aw Sweet Jeebus, an he's still in there? The avergage I look at (RCP) actually has it 43.7 v 50.9. So?? I can live with that. Cosidering the 24/7 bullshit against him 43.7 ain't all that bad.

And when he hits Dubyas 22% Send me a telegram from your Moms basement.

In fact...when he hits Congress' 14.2%...I'll march up to you Moms house naked with a pizza. I'll even invite everyone here to watch with their Iphones.

"Clearly, his handling of the continuing resolution and the shutdown is not popular with Americans" Uh, yea, it is. Every major respected poll shows the Repubs are taking the hit for this. Not the WH. Even the smart ones in the GOP knows it, from Boehner on down. Boy that sucks.

I also thought it interesting how you said "his handling of the continuing resolution". Well that's ignorant on at least two levels. The WH doesn't 'do' the CR in the first place. That's Congress. Second, if you want to talk about his opinion that this CR--ANY CR--should be not be inextricably married to some other piece of SETTLED legislation--I'm with him on that one too.

And oh yea...You should be wary of your own sources, just in the event they say something you don't agree with.

(cruise) "learly, his handling of the continuing resolution and the shutdown is not popular with Americans" From the same friggin site: "Get Government running or stop ObamaCare? 73 to 21. From the source cruise was so damn proud of: 73 to 21.

You want to start ANOTHER thread about polls? Fine. They don't mean a whole lot unless you agree with them, but chrissakes at least look into it before making an ass out of yourself.

Once again an idiot left winger tries to change the subject

The point is... always was and always will be...that Obama is losing ground with the American public. And nothing the left wingers on here can say or do will alter that fact.

Karen Penner Posted - 10/6/2013 11:57:08 AM | show profile | flag this post

They're ALL "losing ground" in Washington. That, Tweedledum, is the context. Every genius knows it, and no genius needs to skirt it.

For those like cruiser who don't know, here it is:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/congressional_job_approval-903.html

How's that 7 percent approval rating of Congress doing for you? How's that continued precipitous decline? Approval is down for ALL politicians in D.C., and deservedly so -- but the reasons form yet another layer of context that's salient to any meaningful discussion.

Yes, it was a bad week in Poseurville and September was a whole bad month -- a very bad time to pretend to be a "professional writer" in "media" among the pros you're attempting to impersonate.

The original post wasn't even a good try. You're a fake, you blew your cover, and all the ranting, self-worship and arrogance in the world won't bail you out.

Quinntessential Posted - 10/6/2013 12:26:01 PM | show profile | flag this post

Karen Penner/Grateful Deadline Why so angry? Why do you feel the need to attack other posters?

Life is too short. Try enjoying it.

cruiser Posted - 10/6/2013 1:13:33 PM | show profile | flag this post

NJ, you'll find that

EVERY left winger on here thinks it's his/her sacred duty to attack every post I make...whether they know what they're talking about or not...and they most often don't.

mpdodgson Posted - 10/6/2013 2:08:20 PM | show profile | flag this post

It's not a "sacred duty" cruise

to attack you, it's just plain fun. A hobby . And oh so easy. My ship models are more of a challenge.

Where the hell did I 'change the subject?' You're the one (for some insane reason) brought up polls again. Don't know why. They still show Congress (and particularly the Teabaggers) in the basement, and POTUS with a comfortable '40s' range.

"Once again an idiot left winger tries to change the subject" FROM WHAT?? "Since the middle of July..." Well when yer right yer right.
Obam July 22nd: 49.2% July 23: 48.9% This week? 43.7%

OMG that's downright cataclysmic!! A whole monstrous 5.5% drop?? And these have the gall to show up for work in the morning??

So...as I said before, when Obama hits Dubyas 22, please, send up a flare. And to be more relevant, when the WH even comes CLOSE to congress' 14.2%?? As LBJ once famously put it; 'I'll kiss your ass in Macys window and say it smelled like roses'

(LBJ Passage of Power, Great book[s])

Grateful Deadline Posted - 10/6/2013 3:03:51 PM | show profile | flag this post

Why to you label people "left winger" for calling out your failures -- failure to report completely, failure to be accurate, failure to examine issues in context, failure to let others have their opinions, failure to quit bragging about yourself, etc.?

They're all failures at basic human interaction. God only knows, and only God cares, what your politics are.

P.S. to the fat, unintelligent lifeguard: You're wrong. But it's amusing that you think there's only one woman in the forum with a news background. A newsroom, where stupid people get chewed into sawdust, would be a painful experience for a guy who chose slang for a woman's anatomy as his screen name.

Note to Grateful

That's why I'm calling him "Crotch". Figured that was the quickest way to where is brain is.

You people are more fun than

throwing a rat into a pack of Jack Russell terriers...and that's entertaining as hell.

VTexan Posted - 10/6/2013 8:53:10 PM | show profile | flag this post

So you'd call throwing a rat into a pack of terriers fun?

I've suspected you were a twisted f#ck for quite some time, and now you've made that quite clear.

What a Vitally Important Thread

Obama is headed to defeat at the hands of Mitt Romney once again.

cruiser, I would have said more fun than liberal punching.

There are two women on this forum who loves them some cruiser?

Amusing? Hardly. Creepy?You betcha.

cruiser, Notch, Reject Violence

Throwing rats into a pit of terriers, punching liberals. It's time to stop the violence.

cruiser and Notch, I implore you. Reject violence and focus on trolling under your many screen names.

Listen to Rush, Beck, Hannity, et al and form opinions based on their ideas. Do not think outside the box provided by them.

Post things and insult people, then make vague arguments and petty comments when responses are posted. (aka, the cruiser formula).

Maybe you could start your own mini-Drudge news aggregating website and pretend you matter.

How else is Mitt Romney going to get elected?

Can you stop scratching your balls long enough to switch on your brain?

Yes, two women with a news background, and at least four men with a news background. Before cruiser and his alter-egos gave this entire board a horrible image, it was dozens of men with news backgrounds and dozens of women with news backgrounds. Co-inky-dink? Hardly. Look at the content of the entire website. Look at the course promos down the right-hand side of your screen. Look at the headings on the dead forums, which this one soon will join in eternal repose. The whole place is for professionals on the editorial side of media, i.e. news. You don't belong here.

Yes, two women in news post in the same threads. There is roughly one new thread per day and sometimes none. Are you unable to do the math?

Yes, two women with a professional obligation to hate fakes and bullshitters wound up in the same forum on a media professionals' website. Deal with it.

While the left wingers on here keep trying to

change the subject, Obama's job approval rating CONTINUES to slide.

A new CBS news poll confirms earlier polls by Gallup and Quinnipiac. All put Obama's job approval in the mid to high 30 percent range.

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 11/20/2013 3:10:36 PM | show profile | flag this post

And still three times...

the approval of the GOP in Congress.

Another perspective

Blogger Jon Perr: "On April 7, 2009—less than three months after Barack Obama first took the oath of office—the Daily Show's Jon Stewart perfectly summed up the red-hot, right-wing rage that hasn't cooled since. "I think," Stewart explained to frothing-at-the-mouth tea party supporters, "you might be confusing tyranny with losing."

Now THAT is a good line. A little more--and remember this is just a friggin op-ed: "The unprecedented campaign of GOP obstructionism which literally began the night of Obama's inauguration quickly shattered the previous mark for filibusters, blocked President Obama's judicial nominations at record rates and even stood in the way of any appointee to head agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

During most of Obama's first four years in office, another Republican weapon of choice was, as Arizona Republican Jon Kyl's office acknowledged, the talking point "not intended to be a factual statement." Barack Obama isn't a Muslim and wasn't born in Kenya (or any place other than Hawaii). The Bush recession which began in December 2007 did not become the "Obama Bear Market" months before the Democrat even won the election, let alone take the oath of office. Tax cuts don't "pay for themselves" and the 2009 stimulus did not fail to "create a single job" and "make the economy worse." There were (and are) no "death panels. That 2009 Politifact Lie of the Year was succeeded in 2010 by another Affordable Care Act myth, "a government takeover of health care."

It's a good read. I particularl liked the last graf: (Inre the Gov shutdown); "To those Republicans who organized their failed putsch over white wine and single-malt scotch on K Street, President Obama on Thursday had a simple message:

"You don't like a particular policy or a particular president? Then argue for your position. Go out there and win an election. Push to change it," Obama said. "But don't break it. Don't break what our predecessors spent over two centuries building. That's not being faithful to what this country's about."

THAT'S why, IMO, Teabaggers-in-it-for-the-soundbites will never get the WH. That's why Hillary is the Dems best shot, and that's why pragmatic sensible Repubs like Christie have a shot too.
