METHUEN, Mass. — An 18-year-old Methuen, Mass. high school student was arrested yesterday afternoon after allegedly posting comments on his Facebook page that SUGGESTED he wanted to kill people and outdo the Boston Marathon bombings, police said. He’s being held on $1 million bail.
Cameron B. Dambrosio, 18, was arrested at 1:35 p.m. and charged with communicating a terrorist threat, a felony with a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, said Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon. The language WAS NOT DIRECTED at a specific PERSON OR TARGET, officials said, but was a general threat of violence and terrorism.
“We have zero tolerance,” he said. “We take these very seriously.”
Police searched the student's home yesterday, finding a computer and Xbox that were turned over to the state police for analysis. Detectives are also going through his Facebook page for more evidence.
A clerk magistrate set bail Dambrosio’s bail at $1 million. He was being held overnight at the Methuen Police Station and is set to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court today.
“We have contacted the FBI because of some of the language,” Solomon said. “He made comments about the White House and the federal government. So, we have forwarded that the FBI.”
Having an opinion can lead to arrest.
We are no longer allowed to be critical of the gov't.
Free speech? it was nice knowing you.

Of any of the following:
"Having an opinion can lead to arrest." No...threats of violence, or panic, or death can however.
"We are no longer allowed to be critical of the gov't." Really? so the entire GOP and TeaParty have been to a Gulag somewhere??
"Free speech? it was nice knowing you." The First, and Second Amend--and everything that follows--has limits. Thank heavens.
(Dis cruise leave you his tinfoil hat in his will, or adid you you buy it on line)

YOU may consider comments alluding to wanting to kill and bomb to be "suggestions," but threats to commit violence, destruction and murder are illegal.
It has been illegal for decades upon decades to make such threats.
Good luck with defining it as "free speech."

Government Excess at its Worst
Just because a guy wants to bomb and kill, they lock him up.
Used to be you could threaten anyone you wanted in this great land of ours.

When will people learn...
That making threats on social media is the same as any other threat...This kid is obviously disturbed and needs to be watched closely...
