Oh. My. God. You'll throw any piece of illogic out there to bait an argument, won't you?
No, cruiser -- adjusting one's budget to one's take-home pay is called "smart." Nobody is obligated to pay a higher rate to the cable company than they have to, and nobody is obligated to buy sodas and coffee.
If you believe you that you have a personal duty to pay more for services and to buy what you don't need, then you go ahead and do it. It's your choice.

second, you seem clueless that some parts of the
country are doing well. NYC's 2013 budget has no
local tax increases, and my work place is hiring.

"to bait an argument"
Since you have such an uncontrollable urge to have the last word...hurl the last insult...you just don't realize how easy you are to bait.
You're always advocating that others boycott me but you don't have the strength of character and personal discipline to do it yourself.

Hey, jerky-turkey, you tossed out fight bait by writing "In other words, you're not paying your fair share." All you were doing was trolling for an argument.
So I didn't bite. Too bad for you. "Wah, wah, GDL has other things to do and won't waste time by fighting with me!!! Let me pile on some MORE insults and see whether I can get a rise out of her!"
Big deal if my adjustment in spending to offset the tax reinstatement bothers you. Your name isn't Charter Communications, Pepsi or Starbucks. Or is it the extra $28.50 a year in savings that's bothering you enough to fling not one but two insult-filled posts at me?
Thanks for the laughs today, cruiser -- I needed the breaks. You wouldn't be half as entertaining if the character you play here had a good side. Have a nice evening!

FYI on the Recession definition...
Two, consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth is the EUROPEAN measure.
The American definition of a recession is a bit more complex -- but is also measured over two quarters. It's determined by the National Bureau of Economic Research and is based on "a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales."
Remember, the drop in GDP last quarter was a result of delays on the fiscal cliff which led to a large drop in GOVERNMENT spending and the private sector increasing inventories. Job creation and industrial production were both up and wholesale-retail sales were healthy.
As far as the "tax increase' -- this is something secondcoming and the GOP have been demanding for four years -- an end to the Obama Stimulus. The tax break on payroll taxes was a key part of the stimulus. So, secondcoming, be careful what you wish for.

"The tax break on payroll taxes was
a key part of the stimulus"
And it clearly did not work. In fact, little to none of Obama's spend, spend, spend policy served any purpose except to add to his trillion-dollar-plus defits each year of his presidency.
Unemployment remains higher than when he took office, the labor force participation rate is lower than it's been in decades (meaning more people than ever are unemployed but not counted on the unemployment rolls) and businesses are not hiring because of the uncertainty surrounding Obama's policies.

ES, it would be good not to beat your head against a wall. Obama-bashers' don't care to see a big picture, interrelatedness, timelines, and how to handle statistics.

I know, Grateful...
but just getting the facts out there now.
As we see in the trolling post I got in response -- some folks just want to rely on talking points and magic thinking instead of reality.
