People considered for Veeps often discount they are a possibility on the ticket. But the choice of words this year are a lot sharper: ""There is no way that I will do this." -- Condi Rice, CBS This Morning "I don't want to be vice president." -- Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), quoted by Roll Call (after finally being vetted by Romney). And worst of all, Rob Portman laughing at the reporter who asked him if he wanted to be on the ticket. Whatever happened to the "I'd be honored, but doubt I'm even being considered" answer? These folks are running away from Romney as fast as they can! |

Still going with Portman...or Pawlenty...or some other Conservative so bland he's this close to a ventilator. Unless I'm totally wrong. |

I'm saying Portman... unless he can find someone even more obscure. Rubio would be a good choice -- but the hallmark of the Romney campaign seems to be "don't rock the boat." He and his people seem to be more concerned with NOT making mistakes rather than taking chances. That would work if Romney had a clear advantage, but he's got to play offense in this close race. |
