George says she's off this holiday weekend. The holiday is next weekend. No one takes off in the middle of sweeps! Something is going on here, maybe a week of quick rehab?

Not so fast
At the networks, "sweeps month" isn't that critical compared with local markets. After all, Nielsen rates the the big three every week.
George actually said "holiday week." Other network anchors have taken Thanksgiving week off in the past.
But to be honest, I prefer George S. to Diane S. as an evening news anchor. He's more to the point, with less spontaneous "reaction" to the stories.

I don't see a big deal with taking Thanksgiving weekend off.
No one's watching anyway, sweeps or not.

Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve
All three network evening newscasts had substitute anchors. On what I think is still a "sweeps period" night.
So there.
