Just think. Had two million misguided people not voted for Obama (or if two million others had gotten off their tails and voted for Romney), today the republic itself would be sighing with relief (were that possible). It would have been a transition from a democrat-socialist administration, intent on changing us into something non American --- to an administration that would have put us back on a responsible economic track and returned us to the principles upon which this country was founded. That would have been the best thing for the country, but of course it's not to be.

It's a sad day for America.

mpdodgson Posted - 1/20/2013 2:56:34 PM | show profile | flag this post

You have two choices.

A) Be an extremely proud American...we not only choose our president in propably the best, fairest, most democratic way possible (Of course there are flaws) But this time also there weren't any questions about how close it was. Where did you get this "two million others" stuff anyway??

Final vote total was 65,899,660 to 60,929,152. EC was 332 to 206 This was not a horse race photo-finish.

B) Go ahead. Be bitter. Sore loser. Sour grapes. Whatever.
You guys lost. For a variety of reasons, a multitude of reasons.
And this is what sticks in your craw--You love to say "socialist administration, intent on changing us into something non American..." And you just CANNOT give me solid examples of either "Socialism" or "Non-American" policies actually signed into law by this president. They simply do not exist. But you can whine about it.

It's a PROUD day for America. Once again, pardon my Patriotic chest thumping...the country shows the world how a true Republic does it. A poor black kid, with smarts, can rise to become the Leader of the free world.

If you think that's a sad day for America, you're the sad one.

"you just CANNOT give me

solid examples of either "Socialism" or "Non-American"

Yeah, we can...and we have. You just refuse to acknowledge them.

mpdodgson Posted - 1/20/2013 3:28:19 PM | show profile | flag this post

No, You haven't.

I've never heard of any law the President sgned (after being passed by Congress) that was "non-american".

and even if--by some super-hero-stretch you could possibly lable "ObamaCare" sounds-socialist-but-I-don't-know-why....it was a law passed by an elected congress, signed by an elected president, and affirmed by the Supreme Court of the United States. And that's "Non-American" how????

Even with the 'gun control measures' this week--"He's a TOTAL DICTATOR--A MONARCH". Since when does a dictator ASK Congress to pass something??

So, one more time--"you just CANNOT give me solid examples of either "Socialism" or "Non-American" Yeah, we can...and we have. You just refuse to acknowledge them."

WHERE are they?

stopbs-- Posted - 1/20/2013 3:29:54 PM | show profile | flag this post

Yes, newscred.

I'm sad about it too. I also think about what could have been.
I am glad that someone said it.

mp, "poor black kid"? Come on. That was 4 years ago. Aren't we past that?

It's the policies that matter and they have failed a great many of us.

Yes, you won. You can celebrate, but this is a highly polarized country and there are millions of us who disagree. I have no criticism about the process (expect for the outdated electoral college.) This day just reminds those of us on the other side about how badly we feel about where our country has gone and where it seems headed.

Get over it. Stop being such a bitter sore loser. I think
about what could have been too. I'm glad Romney lost.
And stop implying people were misguided. You just can't
accept that the people have spoken and chose Obama.
It's in poor taste to be acting like such a whiney sore
loser right before the inauguration. Show some class.

Well if you don't like it you can move....

.... To....

Ummmm.

Huh.

Yeah.

I guess Saudi Arabia is pretty much your type of place: oil, theocracy, greed, no taxes, no abortion, anti woman .... Or maybe invent a time machine and go back to 1800. Just avoid the northeast ... That still may be to progressive for y'all, with the free blacks and Harvard elites.

mpdodgson Posted - 1/20/2013 5:14:02 PM | show profile | flag this post

Sorry stopbs;

Sorry that you're sad about a great celebration that is a great American moment.

"I also think about what could have been." Where exactly were you for the past five years?? IF this was President Romney taking the oath we would have no friggin clue where'd we be. Gun control?? Who knows? He took both sides. Health Care. He took both sides. Same with reproductive rights. Same with every single important issue. What about foreign affairs? You're willing to trade in Hillary/Kerry for what? Bolton?? The markets have been thousands of points ahead since Obama...where would they go now?? Point being, be careful what you wish for.

"mp, "poor black kid"? Come on. That was 4 years ago. Aren't we past that?" NO. And NO. That poor black kid beat a white old guy war hero for many a REASON (Sarah among them). That poor black kid beat a white guy multi-millionaire for a REASON. He did NOT have a frackin clue what the average american goes through. He (and Queen Ann) couldn't relate to "I'm hungry" if it was tattooed on his forearm. And then we find out from junior he didn't want the job that much in the first place. Great. So much for giving 110%.

I UNDERSTAND you're upset. But seriously. Five million votes?? That's some kind of slight mistake??

inauguration

Yes, it is a sad day for America. It is a fact that the Republican vote lost the election, but what this really means is that ALL of America lost. Look for the current administration to make an even stronger connection between the idea of personal liberty and bigger government. Look for higher taxes on everyone. Look for poorer, more expensive health care. Look for more anti-Americanism overseas and poorer foreign relations. Look for more moral slide. (The only time the current President sees a Bible is on inauguration day.) Look for more abuse of executive power. The country voted for an empty suit with giant puppet cables running from his person to the shadow bosses. Look for more insane debt being funded by more money printing (quantitative easing) and higher taxes. Yes, it is a sad day for the greatest country on earth. ALL Americans and her future generations lost on November 6, 2012. (See II Chron. 7:14)

No, America won.

It wasn't the misguided who voted for Obama -- the misguided voted for Romney.

They cling to the past and a false fantasy of what that past was like.

The majority of Americans who support our President and the majority of voters who elected him see the future - and see how the extreme right wing fringe is trying to destroy that future.

Those who can't realize how out of touch they are with the mainstream that re-elected President Obama are the truly misguided.

I will say this again

It's in poor taste to be acting like a whiney sore
loser during the inauguration. Show some class.

So VG....and other libs

Are we to assume that you libs weren't "whining" when Bush won in 2000 or 2004?

What a bunch hypocrites you libs are.

Well, I certainly was not making cracks anonymously on a pubic bulletin board the weekend of the Bush inauguration.

We Must Eliminate Elections

The wrong people vote. This is egregious.

And while we conservatives come off sounding like whiny spoiled unintelligent thoughtless stupid racist idiots, polls clearly show we are not, like they showed Romney winning.

newscred is right, had two million less people not voted for Obama he wouldn't have won. Had a billion people voted for Romney, he'd be president. Had Obama not run, he wouldn't have been elected. If Obama never existed, there would be no Obama to worry about. Had Romney not been so stupid and out of touch, he might have convinced two million, or even a billion more people to vote for him. Maybe a trillion!

Do you follow our logic?

mpdodgson Posted - 1/22/2013 11:14:05 AM | show profile | flag this post

back on Topic;

And I HAVE to put this under the sub-heading of 'More Comic Relief"; It's NOT importand by any means, just humorous.

Sour grapes/sore losers is one thing; but this took on some pretty funny dimensions. Besides the fact that it was pretty class-less for both Romney and Dubya not to attend;

Fox and Friends started off the day calling it the 'most depressing day of the year. Fox's "The Five had Eric Bolling claim that based on his email--people were disgusted. "He continued on to cite his frustrated social media followers’ sentiments: “I got comments, multiples of what I usually get, saying something along the lines of, ‘I can’t watch.’ ‘I’ve heard enough.’ ‘Flush my head down the toilet.’ ‘We asked for it, we bought it, you own it.’ People are so upset.”

“Is that a surprise from your Twitter list and your Facebook list?” co-host Bob Beckel quipped.

(Scan thru the tweets; they're hysterical:) http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/01/22/obama-inauguration-angry-republicans-twitter_n_2524456.html#slide=2008911

Sean Hannity ignored the Ignaugaration altogether; TENNIS was more important. The Washington times had a HUGE scoop how Obama skipped his middle name saying the oath (not true of course--but DRUDGE ran with it anyway). Rush had nothing on the Ignaugaration except leering over Beyonce. Bill O’Reilly: Featured story? A FREE copy of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence! That’s the headline piece on Inaugural Day.

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/01/21/ten-media-views-of-inauguration-left-reports-history-while-right-pretends-it-isnt-even-happening/

Later Bill-O claimed the Debt wasn't mentioned enough--But all this 'Social Justice' was. We also had some idiot here claiming "The only time the current President sees a Bible is on inauguration day.)" Even though the president was raked over the coals for going to Church for 17 years...AND "For those keeping track, POLITICO's Mike Allen reports: "The President and the First Family … have attended services at 19th Street Baptist Church, the Washington National Cathedral, Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, Shiloh Baptist Church and multiple services at St. John's Episcopal Church and Evergreen Chapel at Camp David."

BUT my favorite is AGAIN--what DIDN't happen in the past four years. The Boy Scouts weren't abolished. All illegal aliens weren't give voting rights. No FEMA Camps. No Death Panels. Hannity and Rush not gagged. No WAR against the Catholic Church. No Sharia Law everywhere. No private enterprise. Socialism everywhere. No guns. The end of the country as we know it. And that's just in the first four years.

Jeez people. Since yu were all so friggin paranoid wrong about the lats four years--why oh why should we listen to you now?

"the majority of voters who elected him see the future..."

of government largess, handouts and entitlements...at the expense of those who work and have been successful.

If that's your vision of America, pal, I don't want any part of it.

The Pilgrims risked their lives to rid themselves of centralized and arbitrary authority and the Revolutionary War was fought for the same reason.

In the intervening 225 years America has grown to become the greatest and most successful nation on Earth. Why in the world would you advocate a return to something our ancestors worked so dilligently to escape???

This says it all:

Cruiser:

This IS the great difference between the left & right. This is where the country has been headed for the last 4 years ("Obamacare," trillions added to the debt for so-called "social (gag-me) justice, punishing success" This is why we are disappointed!

We have seen what you've done for the last 4 years, why should we have any doubt that you will continue to damage our nation for the next four.

The "CHAIRMAN"

Obama is a divider. His way or no way. He definitely doesn't display the values one would expect from a U.S. President. He's like others in history (Europe/Asia) that pushed their revolutionary beliefs on a population who didn't see the true agenda. Class warfare, vilification of the members of society that created the jobs and advanced production and promising everyone the same birth to death benefits from government. Just a few of the ideas of his 'revolution'. We might as well call Obama "Chairman" or "Premier"...as others of his ilk have been dubbed over the last century.

How blind have the american people become?

TODAY is a Sad Day for America

Obama's 2nd term is now 24 hours old as I write, and all the problems we had yesterday still exist!

While on the streets, drugs dealers and welfare queens are using free cell phones to get entitlements and drag our economy down.

It is too bad the elective democracy chosen by our fore fathers was such a poor idea. It is too bad the will of the people prevails. It is a sad day when the man elected to the presidency is not the one I like.

mpdodgson Posted - 1/22/2013 2:35:06 PM | show profile | flag this post

One at a time..and...

This is not so difficult. Let's get this out of the way right away--you guys are bitter because you ran a sucko campaign with a sucko candididate. You're whining, and we're gloating. You lost, we won. And right now (things may change) it sure sounds like you've learned NOTHING and you're going to lose again next time.

As to the issues: "the majority of voters who elected him see the future..." That's over five million votes. You pissed off more than just one small minority group. As long as refuse to recognize that, the GOP will be in the minority.

"government largess, handouts and entitlements at the expense of those who work and have been successful." YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS. The list of billion dollar corporations who pay no taxes, or get tax refunds, or get tax breaks fills pages.

Some of my favorite examples: **30 major corporations had made billions of dollars in profits while paying no federal income tax between 2008 and 2010. **The Romneys getting a $70,000 tax deduction on THEIR HORSE. **Greatest Rich person quote of the year: "I've been on food stamps and welfare. Did anybody help me out? No." -- Craig T. Nelson

And let's forget all those brilliant Teagagger signs: "Keep you Government hands off my Medicare!!

"The Pilgrims risked their lives to rid themselves of centralized and arbitrary authority" Yea, and they also wanted religious freedom. And when you get Republican candidates DEMANDING that this country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and Muslims are to be driven out, and mass shootings are the result of not enough GOD in the classroom, and you demand Christian Prayers be returnd to Public schools etc etc, you guys are a few steps short of the Inquisition, you're in serious trouble. Hell, SANTORUM was a serious GOP front runner. 'Nuff said.

"In the intervening 225 years America has grown to become the greatest and most successful nation on Earth." AGREED.

Part II

"This IS the great difference between the left & right."
No--It's not--both Left and Right agree with that.

"This is where the country has been headed for the last 4 years"
THIS s where you horribly fail. We were told (Bachmann comes to mind) we wouldn't even HAVE a country by now. Where is the destruction? Did America just dissolve and I missed it?? Are the markets not thousands of points ahead of where they were?? Have we invaded anyone lately? Is not unemployment and housing better?? Was Benghazi JUST like 9/11?

Yes!!--We have trillions in debt!! $16 1/2 now, $12 1/2 when Obama took office--so of course--ALL Obamas fault. what kind of math is that??

"He definitely doesn't display the values one would expect from a U.S. President." What the HELL does that mean?? Seriously?? What kind of "value test" do you have??? A good Christian man more interested with helping the poor than making a fortune (or inheriting one) raised from poverty to become the top of his class from Harvard, local politics, national politics, having both Lincoln and King as his models--and his VALUES aren't good enough for you??

That makes him a Commie. Socialist. Just like Stalin, Mao, and Hitler. No evidence mind you--but it sounds good. Every single time I ask for evidence of some tryranical dictator like action I hear--silence, but whispers that it must be there.

Yesterday was a celebration the system works. I CANNOT see the future, but I'm pretty damned confident it's going to be better than one being run by someone who says f*ck you to half the country.

Thanks MP

Thanks for the belly laugh!
