So this is weird. A friend of mine saw a report on a local station owned by Sinclair, and it just wasn't accurate. It was misleading He wrote to the reporter who had done the story, and respectfully pointed out what he thought was wrong with it. Strangely, she wrote him back quite candidly. She said that she agreed with his criticism 100%, and that Sinclair was making them do these reports. She said she couldn't wait 'til her contract was done so she could be gone.

That's quite a charge

with nothing to back it up.

Fair enough

I might say the same thing to you. Unlike you, I don't lie or misrepresent reality here. I have NO interest in positioning things other than they are.
I saw her e-mail--was QUITE surprised she was so honest in it. It probably was sent at a point of very high frustration. Also quite clearly she doesn't intend to stay working for them after her contract expires.

I've heard these kinds of things about Sinclair from other people in other places, but it's my first exposure to someone I know.

"Unlike you, I don't lie or misrepresent reality here"

Yeah, right! While I won't accuse you on intentionally doing so, your slavish adherence to the liberal party line causes you to do just that.

That is interesting, VTexan. If local news counts as part of the station's fulfillment of public service, that could be a real problem for Sinclair, especially considering its current buying binge.

i've lost tqack of the number of ex-sinclair employees..

who've told similar stories to me or to people I know..

we say faux snooze doesn't deserve to use "news" in their title..

faux is a shining tower of journalistic rectitude compared to Sinclair..

I'm a slave to no one

My world view is mine and mine alone, and it detours from the commonly accepted Democratic party from time to time, too.

And yes, Orthicon, I've heard those stories myself. This was my first personal exposure to one. I've worked on a project with the reporter, but had no particular idea as to her journalistic chops or political leanings. I've come to not really watch local news anymore.

"I'm a slave to no one"

which is why when cnn, the new york times or npr brings the inaccurate or misleading reporting you are quick to run to this board and alert its many readers.....

oh wait.............

I work for Sinclair...

The reporter is probably Christine Frazao. Sinclair makes their affiliates run her stories each night and they are laughable. They are all far right wing and just echo conservative talking points. The stories are about the Benghazi "cover up", the IRS "cover up", how Obamacare will destroy the nation, blah, blah, blah. She uses the same people for interviews in each report and there will be one person from the opposing side who gets about three seconds for a counter view point so they can claim they are "balanced". Even the conservative people at the station laugh at how blatantly one sided they are. It is an embarrassment and I am sure that Sinclair isn't changing anyone's mind. The people who are dumb enough to believe those reports are already hopelessly Tea Party for life members anyway. Too bad the FCC doesn't have any teeth any more and can't stop such rampant one sided broadcasting. So much for the "librul media"...

You can believe what you want con

And clearly you don't want to believe me. It's hard to measure how little difference that makes to me. But I stated what I know to be true. I saw it with my own eyes. Period.

And no, the reporter was not Christine Frazao. Which suggests this kind of thing doesn't just happen in one Sinclair station.
