.. to some I'm at best a blow-hard knee jerk America hater, at worst an America-hater bound to burn in hell. But, wherever you may be: Merry Christmas. Happy Channukha, Kwanza, etc. May you and yours be blessed with Joy this season And your Children, Peace on Earth. (and if it happens to be a White Christmas remember ... that wind came from Canada). |

Lol, cdn I would not expect less of a Christmas greeting from you. I hope that you have a very happy (and possibly blessed? or not) holiday, whatever it may be, and that you celebrate in the appropriate tradition (or not) of your designated spiritual or non-spiritual identity; but mostly that you eat a lot of good food and are surrounded by loving friends and family. Amen. (Maybe.) |

Ha! Well stop... ... Faith, I'll always struggle with. But a Sikh cleric once told me God is Love, and vice versa, but we're too human to realize it. If we are blessed with one, we are blessed by both. We forget it. But kids haven't. So each Christmas, the love is a blessing. And God is present And maybe a bit more faith... For the rest of us flawed humans. |

It's hymn time folks.. Here is my "season's greetings". I hope the feelings we express during the Christmas season carry over to the other 364 days of the year. May we all find a way to enjoy every day, to have joy every day, and to seek Peace on Earth always. And in that spirit, I just deleted my first paragraph. Just know it was my usual blend of sarcasm and bitter truth. |

This is the season of light and hope. Let's keep that feeling alive. Yesterday my pastor urged us to become urban angels. I like that idea.... Merry Christmas to everyone. Peace on earth in 2013. |

And so it came to pass ...that a hardened liberal from the bastion of Godless New York urges us to become urban angels...that the seeming America hater from north of the border doesn't just send cold...but sincere well-wishes for his American cousins. The unapologetic conservative whose name reflects ghosts of Christmas's that have long since passed indulges in bitter cynicism...then tosses it out for earnest words of peace. And of course, our San Diegan friend even reaches out to a foe, with whom he never agrees. With all this positivity, who am I to piss in the chili? I won't. I leave you with a picture of PEACE that I carved into a rock when I was 17. It was sandstone, don't be too impressed. Christian or not, religious or not, I think it's the one thing on which we can all pretty well agree is the wish for the season, if not the reason. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jadinamo/2793855943/sizes/o/ |

Aw! Sweet! Wishing everybody a happy pause to savor true joy in the beauty of every day -- even rural angels and those whose snow arrives on wind from the Gulf of Alaska, those with families here or in heaven -- that warms your spirit for the rest of winter and through the new year. Feliz Navidad! |

Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah to one and all, thank you all for your passion, your insightful opinions and great debates. I don't debate - I just throw flower petals all over Cruzo when I get a chance. ;-) May you all (Cruzo too) have a safe and Happy New Year! Nikongirl |

Again, Merry Christmas to all!! Or...whatever. Hope everyone had a grand day (and yes, even you cruise, especially when your heart grew three sizes) Anyone care to share their favorite gift? (I'm only starting that because my dear wife--knowing what a geek I am, actually got me a 'Table of the Elements T-shirt from the 'Big Bang' website. Reminds me of the many times I got beat up in Jr. High.) Hope you all made out well!! |

Bose headphones and a gift card to my art supply store. ;-) However, the best was spending time with our son, his wife, her sister and her husband who have a 20 month old little girl. A child brings so much joy and wonder to share with gleeful abandon. It was a perfect, warm, loving day, I hope all of you enjoyed the same with your families. Now on to a chill week and another year.... |

My best gifts First, spending time with both my parents. They are in their late 80's, both are cancer survivors, my dad survived a heart attack and mom has alzheimer's so any time with them is special. Next was my mother-in-law and with the special Chritstmas treats she makes that was another special gift. But perhaps the greatest gift was spending time with my son and his new girlfriend. She is a New Yorker (NYU grad) and a second generation Pakistani Muslim currently working on her PhD. She is great, a true joy to be around, can speak intelligently on any subject and makes my son happy. What more could parents ask? Well, she did vote for Obama but I am trying not to hold that against her. I hope all of you got a chance to enjoy the season and hope you survived the extreme weather. |

best gift? spending time with my family, gathering with over 20 relatives for Christmas dinner hosted by my amazing 91 year old mother, singing carols after dinner, watching the faces of my great nieces & nephews as they opened presents. |

Blacked... ... I have a close relative with Alzheimer's so a special prayer from me this season. Make one realize how important memories are. And another wise .. That you son's Muslim girlfriends family invite you and yours for Eid. If y'all thought Christians knew how to eat on holidays, wait til ya get a family that's been fasting.... While we're at it HAPPY NEW YEAR. (My resolution: more minor league hockey games ... Not out of choice...) |

Notes from my kids Getting notes from my kids telling my how great of a father I am. My oldest daughter said that about half of her friends do not have a dad at home. No material gift tops that. |
