wall-to-wall and treetop-tall coverage of Seung-Hui Cho, Harris & Kelbold, Jared Loughner, James Holmes, One Goh and Adam Lanza. Of course, in almost EVERY ONE of those cases there was speculation that they were connected with...or at least influenced by...conservatives, Fox News, the tea party movement, etc. But in each one of those cases mental and/or emotional dysfunction was the root cause.

Now comes fired LAPD Officer Christopher Dormer, an avowed Obamaphile, admirer of far left wing media types and everything that is far left (and demonstrable nut case), who shot and killed two of his former colleagues and left a manifesto promising to hunt down and exterminate the rest of the force.

But have we heard much about this? Certainly not here. I'm not surprised given that the majority here are of far left persuasion.

But having said that, I wish the whole media...not just the partisans here...would dial back the coverage of these kinds of incidents to the bare minimum. It just encourages emotionally disturbed copycats.

cruiser Posted - 2/7/2013 11:37:08 PM | show profile | flag this post

Oh, and I failed to add

this nut case is also a supporter of gun control.

orthicon Posted - 2/8/2013 1:44:53 AM | show profile | flag this post

somebody wanna tell this ignorant jackass..

that the local.. and NATIONAL newscasts have been full of this all day?..

he's a renegade ex-cop who thinks he was wronged by the LAPD..

there has, so far as i know, been no mention of his political leanings for one simple reason..

it has NOTHING to do with the story..NOTHING..

Grateful Deadline Posted - 2/8/2013 10:00:43 AM | show profile | flag this post

He's only trying to stir up an argument over his own failure to read, listen to or watch the news.

The story was on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Univision, NYT, Washington Post -- and the list goes on -- by 8 a.m. PT yesterday, roughly six hours after the cop was shot to death. It has, in fact, been covered nationally since the first two bodies were found in a car on Sunday evening.

The story continues to be covered nationally this morning, as the massive manhunt is still under way.

You know how we know? We read, listen to and watch the news.

Grateful Deadline Posted - 2/8/2013 10:09:52 AM | show profile | flag this post

Oh, yeah -- the story was on Fox, too.

If anyone ever doubted how pathetically uninformed cruiser allows himself to be, the proof is in the post that started this thread.

cruiser comment

Cruiser is right! He isn't saying that the story isn't being reported! He is saying that if this guy had right wing leanings the media would chew it up and spit it out! You know how we know genius? Look what they did to Sarah Palin or anybody else on the right! You say you can read but it must be braile because ya'll are blind!

cruiser Posted - 2/8/2013 10:29:25 AM | show profile | flag this post

Once again the radical left wingers here

have NO cogent response to the two points I made in my post so they try to change the subject.

So typical.

I'll spell it out for the slow-witted:

Mine was the FIRST thread to deal with the issue so...in fact...we HAD NOT heard much (anything) about this incident HERE. And I speculated that was because of the shooter's radical left orientation juxtaposed with the political philosophies of the majority here.

The secondary point was that...yes...the media WAS covering the story and I expressed my wish that it would dial back coverage of this and similar incidents for the reason given.

For presumed college graduates (maybe I presume too much) it should not have been difficult to understand.

Grateful Deadline Posted - 2/8/2013 10:40:07 AM | show profile | flag this post

Sorry, new poster -- I don't play with lowlife know-nothing morons who show up on media professionals' site for the sole purpose of spewing bullshit and baiting arguments.

This story is happening in my backyard and has been since Sunday night. I'm affected by it and have a personal connection to it. Is garbage all you have?

Grateful Deadline Posted - 2/8/2013 10:48:30 AM | show profile | flag this post

Look, if you don't get the validity of covering an armed madman on the loose who left evidence from San Diego to the San Bernardino Mountains and who who posted a hit list online and has begun fulfilling it, adding in a few random police officers, that's YOUR problem.

This story has not played out yet. The madman is targeting law enforcement officers. THAT'S WHY IT IS BEING COVERED. If you don't "get" it, that's YOUR problem.

There is no debating or discussing YOUR problem. It is YOUR problem, nothing more. Deal with it.

blackedtaped Posted - 2/8/2013 10:53:40 AM | show profile | flag this post

Reading is fundamental

Cruiser made 2 points. First, no one HERE has posted anything about this guy. If a gun advocate had shot a police officer there would have been posts within ten minutes screaming out for more gun control laws etc.
His other point was that there has been too much media coverage, not a lack of it. He suggested that the excessive amount of coverage encouraged other nut cases.

Look I know all about cruiser's history here and have had my share of disagreements with him. But please either read what he writes and respond to his comments or ignore him.

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 2/8/2013 10:55:05 AM | show profile | flag this post

I find it interesting that our new poster...

apparently from the right, would equate a crazed madman on a shooting rampage to Sarah Palin.

blackedtaped Posted - 2/8/2013 10:55:59 AM | show profile | flag this post

Grateful

Your response posted while I was composing mine. You did in fact address one of his points and made a very valid point. I just wanted to acknowledge that.

con Posted - 2/8/2013 10:58:16 AM | show profile | flag this post

sometimes journolist can't see past their liberal bias to do factual reporting.

and if journolist can't link mass shootings, terrorist threats or attacks to republicans- they will simply lie.

cruiser Posted - 2/8/2013 11:05:13 AM | show profile | flag this post

"I'm affected by it and have a personal connection to it"

Then get off the Internet and go deal with what you must. Do I really need to explain that to you???

Or do you have an urge to publicly wallow in self-pity?

Grateful Deadline Posted - 2/8/2013 11:26:29 AM | show profile | flag this post

blackedtaped, thank you.

I don't read cruiser closely. It's not worth it because it's predictably filled with cruelty and political bile, even in non-political events like this one, and I don't have room in my life to read political bile. Look at his posts in this thread. The guy isn't here to inform and discuss, he's here to vent and rip. He's not worth a passing glance.

To all: I apologize for allowing him to waste my time this morning and for feeding his personality problem by commenting in this thread. I've got work to do. Let the idiots in this thread knock themselves out today. Go ahead and rip me up -- it doesn't matter to me because everyone knows you for what you are anyway.

The stuff is going to hit the fan now

It's been reported that cops in Torrance shot up a blue pickup truck that resembled one driven by fugitive Chris Dorner, the ex-LA cop who killed two ex-collegues and has been the subject of a massive manhunt.

The sad part is that the truck was reportedly occupied by two women delivering newspapers.

What the hell ever happened to the decades-old NRA warning of "be sure of your target?"

If the facts are as reported, this is going to cost Los Angeles a pile of money...and possible irreparable harm to its PD's reputation. It should also result in the dismissal of the idiots who opened fire.

livinliberal Posted - 2/8/2013 1:20:12 PM | show profile | flag this post

Absolutely right...

Because we liberals support anyone who murders people randomly as long as they agree with us politically. What a moron...

cruiser Posted - 2/8/2013 1:31:21 PM | show profile | flag this post

Uhh, you might want to

juxtapose the facts with your attempted sarcasm before you cast aspersions on my intellectual capacity.

After you've done so...if you "get it"...you might want to rejigger your comment.

cruiser Posted - 2/8/2013 1:37:59 PM | show profile | flag this post

Can you believe it???

Now some on the left are trying to make excuses for Dorner because he MAY have suffered football head injuries earlier in his life.

livinliberal Posted - 2/8/2013 1:39:10 PM | show profile | flag this post

Your "intellectual capacity"

Seems limited to your ability to only be able to sort out the "facts" that line up with your narrow view of the world. The "fact" is, you are complaining about the lack of coverage of this case which is completely wrong. It is all over the news. The media doesn't care about his political standpoint, only that he is on the loose after killing several people and threatening to kill more. The rest of it will fall into place after he is caught. To equate this with liberalism is truly a result of one sided thinking mixed in with a good dose of paranoia. you should really get some help...

cruiser Posted - 2/8/2013 1:52:49 PM | show profile | flag this post

You haven't learned

how to read and comprehend either.

cruster Posted - 2/8/2013 2:24:30 PM | show profile | flag this post

Brave Cruiser is Correct

The media should not cover stories that involve crazy people and guns. It makes guns look bad.

He has been saying this since he was noozvet in the Sandbox days.

etaoin shrdlu Posted - 2/8/2013 2:49:53 PM | show profile | flag this post

Hmmm....

"What the hell ever happened to the decades-old NRA warning of 'be sure of your target?'"

Seems that the NRA's more recent rants are more along the lines of "shoot everyone who you feel threatened by!"

cruiser Posted - 2/8/2013 3:12:22 PM | show profile | flag this post

Deliberate and bald-faced lies

do NOTHING for your credibility...so PLEASE keep it up.

it's just tv folks Posted - 2/9/2013 1:41:23 PM | show profile | flag this post

kudos 2oldcruztwit

Another example of someone who should never be allowed near a gun, much less purchase the arsenal we have yet to fully see. I'm hope the psychological exam that should be standard for gun purchases would catch future sickos like this guy. I won't even go into the weaponry that was too easy for him to get and use to kill.

BTW, how come no discussion about the sniper who thought it was a great idea to give someone suffering with PTSD a gun? Oh yeah, guns are the cure for everything! The world would be a better place if everyone had a gun! I'm sorry the 2 men are dead, but what a f\cking retarded thing to do.
