Who's Your Liberal Hero Now?

That Texas girl from the upper middle class burbs of Rhode Island is doing quite the gumby.
Wendy Davis(once a NRA, Second Amendment hater) is now supporting open carry laws in Texas.
APNewsBreak: Wendy Davis Supports Open Carry Law
And the left is mad as hell.
Juanita Jean Is Mad As Hell At Wendy Davis
It’s pandering plain and simple. I know that no candidate is going to agree with me about 100% of things. However, I do expect the candidates I support to be honest with both me and themselves.
And what has the pink sneaker mafia outraged?
Wendy Davis backs 20-week abortion ban that defers to women
Liberals are mad as hell and they ain't gonna take....well....they'll just stay at home crying and venting in the comment sections of Think Progress and Daily Kos.

"Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis made her name and kick-started her campaign for governor by filibustering an anti-abortion omnibus bill, standing and talking for 11 hours straight in support of abortion rights. So it comes as a surprise — and frankly, a betrayal — to learn that Davis told the Dallas Morning News on Tuesday that she could support a ban on abortions after 20 weeks, if it gave “enough deference between a woman and her doctor” to make the decision to abort after that point for medical reasons….
You may have bought her sneakers, but when it comes down to it, Wendy Davis is a politician."
Erick Erickson was wrong to call Wendy Davis abortion barbie.
Prof. Jacobson gets it right. Abortion gumby is more like it.
Gumby not Barbie — Wendy Davis bends on late-term abortion
Infinitely flexible positions now are the hallmark of Wendy Davis’ campaign.

have you looked any deeper into that mental health definition of trolls you posted?
Seems like this post is a sure fire symptom!

I'm confused, ES.
Aren't we supposed to love everyone?
Are you a troll-ist? What about diversity? Don't the mentally ill have rights to post on anonymous message boards? Are you a mentally ill hater??
What happened to shedding tears at the beauty of DIVERSITY? ACCEPT ALL!!! LOVE ALL!! SUPPORT QUINN!!!!!
(this is a sarcastic, btw. I have no opinion re Wendy or the accuracy of Quinn's post or Quinn for that matter)

When you can't defend, change the topic, attack the poster.
Just admit you were wrong about Saint Wendy.

Why would I say I was wrong, cruzo?
So she supports open-carry. Big deal. It's freakin' Texas.
Unlike you far-right extremists, cruzo, liberals don't march in lock step on every single issue. We think independently instead of relying on FOX News feeding us GOP talking points.
And beenthere -- I believe in diversity. I also believe in standing up to trolls like cruzo.
But I AM glad to see he's beginning to admit he has a problem by understanding that he IS a troll.

What's the deal quin?
Are liberals supposed to quake and shake and get all weird. What the hell is your point here?
It's freakin' Texas. She also wants to give local municipalities to overrule it.
There's a decent chance she doesn't drive a Prius, too. You thinkin' we're supposed to shit our drawers or something?

Full o' Feces, Quin
I got invited today to go to a big fundraiser in late March for her but I turned it down because I have an offer for a little international work at the same time. A town one over from mine is holding a fundraiser event for her; I might be going to that one. She's criss-crossing the state for successful appearances. There's no waning of support for Wendy Davis over open carry. She d'bomb.
I have a friend who's a TV personality and a brilliant guy, who I will try to paraphrase here:
"Politicians left, right and center get before the cameras and promise they'll defend you, they'll put themselves on the line for you. They make the promise and they rarely are put to the test, rarely have to perform that promise.
Wendy Davis, on the other hand DID it. She filibustered for both education and a woman's right to determine her own health options. Two elemental points to women and to liberals, and really, to many thoughtful libertarians and middle of the roaders. She doesn't have to PROMISE to put herself on the line. She's DONE it. That means a lot."
And you're here whining about her compromising over some bullshit open carry here in gun-loving Texas. As someone who lives here, as someone who's liberal, and knows hundreds of Texas liberals, I can tell you this will keep a few dozen from voting for her. So the fuck what. That's handfuls of people. And those rancher wives, whose husbands are big into gun rights, can point to Wendy and say "See? She's not so bad."
People who can't see that kind of logic either don't know Texas or don't have any common sense, or both. I think that pretty well describes you, Quin.

Nice post Tex
But I'm afraid the irony of this may be lost on some.
In the "Trolls thread, wingnuts Quint and cruise seem amazed that sometimes, some people, (and I for one admit I've been guilty of it) doubt that they are indeed individual posters---Beeecause as cruise put it: "It's a left wing fringe ego defense mechanism...
They just cannot get their heads around the fact that legions of conservartives...including some who post on here...disagree with their pseudo-populist/Socialist agenda and can cogently articulate alternatives."
Okay. Very well said. Now comes this thread. Because Davis doesn't support 1000% every single librul idea out there--All Dem/Libs must be crying in their beer (pick one), because their 'hero' has fallen.
Bull. As has been pointed out, you don't have to agree with every single stand on every single issue to support the candidate. Hell. After Rick Perry?? I think even Dubya would be better.
So admit it quint & cruise; don't you see the hypocrisy here?

Compromise? Flip flop is more like it...
Why Wendy Davis’ Position On 20-Week Abortion Bans Doesn’t Make Any Sense
On Tuesday, Wendy Davis attempted to clarify her position on 20-week abortion bans, one of the policies included in a controversial package of abortion restrictions that passed last summer. The state senator’s dramatic filibuster against that omnibus bill catapulted her into the national spotlight and helped her garner enough support to run for governor. But this week, Davis said she would actually support a 20-week ban under certain conditions.
From a policy position, Davis’ stance simply doesn’t make sense. If the goal is to “give enough deference” to women who are making complicated decisions about their reproductive health, and allow medical professionals to exercise their own judgment about their patients’ care without being hampered by the legislature, that’s directly undermined by the enactment of a ban.
Saint Wendy is a fraud perpetrated by those in our profession (and throughout the country) who supported her extreme views.
Now she is forced to change her views and deny who she is.
Media coverage will sour.
Outside donations will dry up.
Saint Wendy will be a epic fail..
Posted - 2/14/2014 12:29:25 PM | show profile | flag this post
Speaking of missed
The reason for Saint Wendy's media love and major fundraising is her extreme stance on abortion and guns.
She is a hero to the left for those reasons.
Her internal polling shows she has little chance of winning. She is forced to flip-flop. Lie and deny who she is and what she stands for.
Of course supporters are not gonna agree with everything a politician does.
What Saint Wendy did is sellout.

Well quinny, i would suggest that you don't vote for her since you don't like her very much. Since you don't live in Texas, I would strongly suggest that you don't vote in Texas at all. Of course if your goal is to be some inmate's girlfriend, go right ahead.
In the meantime, don't get so upset because your extremist preconceived notions about others are not true. Deny it all you want, it still doesn't make your talking points true in the real world. Frankly, your rightwing hatefilled rants border on the pathetic, It's sad really.

*** People who can't see that kind of logic either don't know Texas or don't have any common sense, or both. I think that pretty well describes you, Quin. ***
For a guy who starts threads about politics, Quin is clearly not only dense about the game but severely uninformed on various prominent political situation (Christie's bridge issue is another one). Considering that his old screen name alluded to porn and that he's constantly trolling ... who's playing whom for a ninny?

Because she scares you.
Makes you shake and quiver, frightened she will roll over your dumb cowboy governor. Hee yuk, yuk, yuk.

Other than you not knowing what you're talking about
...your posts are just fine, Quin. I mean there are generally subjects and verbs. Now if you can just assemble a complete thought you'll be okay.
Come down to Texas, get a read on what really people are thinking, then get back to us. I don't pretend to know what folks in New Jersey or Alaska or Wyoming are really thinking (absent very well-done polling) because I don't live there. You might consider the same tack regarding Texas.
Or you could just keep embarrassing yourself. I'm cool wit dat.

Hmmmmm, based on what I see you posting, the conclusions you jump to, the petty snark you traffic in, I don't think there's a whole lot to learn.
Unless you mean learn from our mistakes!
Don't be like cowboy Quinn.
I think it's heroic of you to set yourself up as an example.

Talk about liberal psychological projection!!!! Maybe LPP should be added the things that make up trolls.
Don't look now!! Saint Wendy has flipped again. She has changed her position (once again) on the 20 week abortion ban!!!!
Got Mary Lou Retton saying "damn girl!!!".
This isn't surprising. Since most of Saint Wendy's cash is coming from outside the state of Texas-the pressure for her to flip flop was intense.
Of course, Vtex and other will pretend it's business as usual and Saint Wendy will win!
But hey, what do i know? I'm not as smart as our leftwing friends pretend to be.

Such fabulous ignorance, Quin
The odds are quite stacked against Davis winning. You don't even know that, do you?
Sure, I think she has a decent chance. She's tapped into a strong vein of passion about women's rights, and of course, many Texans' views that we VASTLY underfund education.
But the whole cash-generating Republican election machine is against her.
The whole right-to-life-at-all-costs, at-least-'til-they're-born-then-they're-on-their-own groups are against her.
The entire red state Texas is against her.
And you think that liberals down here blindly predict Davis will win? You know a good way to describe ignorance, don't you? That you don't know...that you don't know?
Surely you saw Julian Castro's speech before the Democratic Convention. That was written by a guy I know and he's sure not convinced. He hopes so, but knows it's nowhere near a slam-dunk.
It will take a LOT of things coming together to get her into the Governor's office. This is a non-Presidential year, so a real percentage of Texans who normally might vote...won't be there. Will Hispanics come out to support her? Unlike in many hispanic-heavy states, those in Texas are remarkably disengaged. There's a Lieutenant Governor candidate, Leticia Van De Putte, who is hispanic, and VERY well-liked. Her being on the ticket might get them out, but that's a long shot. She's VERY well known in San Antonio, but far less so across the rest of this vast state.
The hard core right will be at the polls, as always, to try and elect their bizarre throw-back choice. But will liberals, moderates and progressive independents show up? Only time will tell.
One thing we DO know is that you'll keep posting, and you'll keep letting us know how little you know about Texas politics.

Come on Boys, Don't be Scared
It's just a smart capable intelligent woman.
She won't hurt you. Well, she will hurt your archaic ideology, yes.
You're going to have to get used to this.
Here's an idea. Come up with a new, screen name and post something to make yourself feel better.
Then catch up.
