Responsibilities: Scholastic Education, a division of Scholastic Inc. has an immediate opening for a Supervising Editor on its product development team. The Supervising Editor will be responsible for managing the creation of math content related to the development of a web-based mathematics intervention program.
The candidate must have an educational product or program development background with specific experience developing content, curriculum, and/or assessments in a digital environment. S/he should have experience with game-based learning situations, simulations, and/or adaptive learning. Must have deep knowledge of state standards, and a functional familiarity with the Common Core State Standards and Standards for Mathematical Practice.
Responsibilities: - Serve as a stakeholder in the development of web-based simulations and learning games, activities, and lessons that adapt to students' needs. - Maintain a math-specific taxonomy of metadata used to tag math content for reporting and for reuse. - Work with external content development firms to create at scale, script plans for simulations, test items, and content aligned to learning objectives - including establishing guidelines, providing up-front and ongoing training and support, and monitoring quality. - Review, edit, and proof mathematics content. - Communicate and collaborate with internal and external teams to develop efficient and effective work flow and obtain feedback. - Work with design and engineering to oversee development of assigned program components
Skills and Attributes: - Strong organizational skills - Exceptionally detailed - Self-starter - Deep understanding of core math content, from kindergarten through high-school Algebra - Ability to determine placement criteria matching curriculum content to grade-level expectations - Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously - Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interface well with peers, subordinates and senior management - Capable of learning new processes and technologies quickly
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education; Master's degree preferred - At least 5 years of editorial experience in educational publishing; ed-tech preferred - Middle of High School mathematics teaching experience preferred - Experience working on intervention programs a plus
