About Our Company The Whitney Museum of American Art is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting American art. The Whitney's Permanent Collection, arguably the finest holding of 20th-century American art in the world, is the Museum's key resource. At the same time, the Whitney has always emphasized the work of contemporary artists. Its signature exhibition, the Biennial, is the country's only continuous series of exhibitions surveying the most recent developments in American art. Because its programs have always supported the new, the Whitney and its identity have evolved with the course of American art, and will continue to do so.
