Job Requirements Reporting to the marketing and community affairs officer, the marketing and social media manager is responsible for developing and executing efforts to promote the Whitney’s programs to the public, with a special emphasis on social media. Work closely with the marketing associate.


• Build and implement marketing plans quarterly, developing new initiatives on an exhibition-by-exhibition basis.
• Negotiate advertising placements (online, print, and outdoor), contracts, and rates with vendors.
• Produce and traffic online, print, and outdoor ad creative.
• Manage the institution’s social media presence across multiple platforms; develop an ongoing content and engagement strategy; enforce best practices and internal policies; set goals for audience growth and conduct ongoing analysis of effectiveness of efforts.
• Monitor all social media channels seven days a week; respond to questions and comments rapidly.
• Manage institutional email marketing strategy; oversee production of institutional email marketing; copy edit and deploy all emails using the Museum’s email service provider.
• Manage marketing budget.
• Manage Google AdWords account on an ongoing basis.
• Produce post-campaign reports on quarterly advertising efforts.
• Integrate all digital marketing efforts holistically, from social media and online advertising to email and mobile marketing.
• Serve as main marketing point of contact with internal Digital Media team to ensure consistent communications across all digital platforms such as website and apps; collaborate to update website info regularly as social media and email marketing changes and grows.
• Deploy and execute cross-promotional partnerships.
• Track and analyze effectiveness of all digital marketing efforts using Google Analytics and other tools.
• Collaborate with graphic design teams on ad creative and general marketing materials on a campaign basis; develop ad copy.

Requirements: B.A.; 3+ years marketing experience (arts-related preferred); facility with social media, email, and mobile marketing required; working knowledge of online marketing tools such as bit.ly, Google AdWords, Google analytics, and Tweet Deck; strong project management skills; outstanding writing, editing, proofreading skills;, ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities, and to do so independently; experience with budgets and budget analysis; media buying and negotiation skills; excellent analytical skills and the ability to think critically and deliver recommendations based on data and analysis; passion for contemporary culture, particularly the visual arts.
