Job Requirements Sactown magazine is looking for a talented and versatile senior editor who can assign, write and edit both short and feature-length stories. The magazine covers topics including food, arts, politics, architecture and design, philanthropy, business, travel, homes and more.

The ideal candidate must have:
– A minimum of 5 years of editing and/or writing experience at a consumer magazine or newspaper (PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION WITHOUT THIS MINIMUM LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE; COLLEGE PUBLICATIONS DO NOT COUNT TOWARD THIS TOTAL)
– Experience writing service journalism, narrative features and personality profiles on a broad range of topics
– The ability to generate smart, surprising story ideas
– The candidate must also be detail-oriented and able to multitask, and line-edit as well as do basic copy-editing.
– Online experience is a plus. Earlier this year, the magazine launched an entirely revamped website: http://www.sactownmag.com

About Our Company Sactown is a bimonthly magazine located in downtown Sacramento (90 minutes east of San Francisco, 60 minutes east of Napa, and 2 hours west of Lake Tahoe). The magazine's owners and editors-in-chief have a combined 20 years of national magazine and newspaper experience in New York with publications like New York magazine, The New York Times, InStyle, Money, U.S. News & World Report and The Wall Street Journal. The magazine's senior photographer shoots regularly for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and the publisher of the magazine is the former president of Texas Monthly.

In the six years since our launch, Sactown has won numerous regional and national awards, including a dozen Maggie Awards from the Western Publications Association for writing, design and photography, and one for “Best City Magazine.” In addition, our photographs have been selected multiple times for the Communications Arts Photography Annual. We have also won multiple Folio Awards and City & Regional Magazine Association Awards. This month, Sactown won a silver Folio Award for “Best Single Article.”
