Art Director
This position reports to the Creative Director
Responsibilities
Oversee the photography of feature/cover shoots on location at various destinations as assigned by editor
Optimize style sheets
Work directly with the editorial department
Attend and participate in editorial planning meetings to develop visually driven editorial ideas that supports and enhances the overall brand experience
Designs the editorial pages for 22 issues a year, including processing art
Reviews image options for each story with Editor in a timely fashion, overseeing Photo Editor in the image gathering process
Approves all color separations, oversees the retouching of images, and advises on all design elements
Meets production deadlines.
Requirements
BS/BA college degree
Candidate must be organized, have strong typography skills, and possess a keen eye for photography
Candidate should have strong computer skills and a be proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
Able to work fast and be a creative problem solver
Demonstrate creative vision, expertise in computer page makeup, and strong familiarity with the processes of separations, reproduction, and printing
Talent for details and working within deadline-driven schedules
Ability to prioritize and to work well independently and as part of a team, half of which is in a separate locale.
