New York City-based ShermansTravel Media is seeking a dynamic and highly energetic, Business Development Manager. You are a creative problem-solver with hustle, possessing the ability to manage many projects at once and shift between them with ease.

You have a talent for finding and closing deals with major online players, growing our brand through the development of a rich network of partnerships.

Our successful business development manager will generate meaningful brand exposure while exceeding revenue growth targets. You will play a key role on a results-driven marketing team in a fast-paced ever-changing environment, reporting to and work very closely with the Vice President, Business Development & Marketing.


The Job

This pivotal role is responsible for initiating strategic new business partnerships and marketing programs to drive business growth and overall revenue.
• Successfully develop new, scalable partnerships: initiate negotiations, complete contract process, and orchestrate partnership program implementation
• Manage relationships with portals, premier publishers, affiliates, networks, travel companies, deals sites, and lifestyle brands to maximize revenue and profitability
• Identify, prospect, and negotiate strategic relationships with a wide range of partners, expanding into new verticals
• Work cross-functionally with internal teams (sales, deals production, technology, editorial, finance) in overall management, optimization, and sell through of syndication and marketing programs
• Ensure revenue, gross margin and customer targets are achieved
• Manage overall P&L of syndication business and marketing programs, including forecasting/planning, regular analysis, and month-end reporting to ensure programs are achieving targets
• Develop, maintain, and report on pipeline of prospects in multiple business areas
• Ensure effective creative and technical development and execution to support programs

The Right Candidate

Required:
• Has 2-4 years progressive business experience
• Holds a Bachelors Degree in marketing, advertising, business management, or liberal arts; or the equivalent experience (Extra points for an MBA)
• Is an aggressive, self-starter with excellent communication skills, a proven track record in professional pursuits, and a strong interest in travel
• Is highly organized with outstanding project management and negotiating skills
• Demonstrates a passionate and committed ownership of professional role
• Commands the ability to drive projects from inception through completion with little direction
• Is results oriented with a strong desire to win and will not settle for anything but the best
• Has strong analytical skills and is comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets
• Is a demonstrated team player and collaborator in an environment that fosters creativity and a culture of open and honest communication
• Has command of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

Desired (But Not Required):
• Has knowledge of online product marketing and/or technical development, travel sphere is a plus
• Has familiarity with site analytics (Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.) and CMS systems
• Carries in-depth knowledge of email marketing and lead generation
• Possesses basic technological knowledge of API, xml & RSS feed, and widget solutions
