||The Content and Program Manager will be responsible for:
•Researching event topics, ideas and business trends in relation to the potential delegate audience.
•Developing themes and content which resonate strongly with the target audience and which can be used by the sales and marketing team in the sales/marketing process.
•Experimenting with new event formats.
•Managing the detailed programme design and sessions for the event, reaching out to and securing speakers for a varied range of session formats.
•Handling the speaker relationship from earliest research phase through the post interview event period.
•Promoting event content on various social media channels and creating a dialogue between the event programming team, the event marketing team, and event online social networks.
•Working with editors, analysts, and other editorial resources to coordinate the creation of content associated with events, including related web content, online video, summary reports, etc.
•Working with sales team and sponsors to clearly define the opportunities for sponsors in our programmes
•Develop compelling event programmes through original research and organizing editorial input from Economist journalists, EIU analysts, and other internal and external resources.
•Design new ways of presenting information on stage, including new formatting ideas, multimedia, etc.
•Conduct programming research with experts from corporations, academia, NGOs, and government. Prepare recommendations/pitches on speakers and sessions.
•Conduct market research and make recommendations based on trends in conferences and changing market/audience demands.
•Manage and implement speaker invitation and recruitment process and build external relationships with speakers and companies that provide quality speakers.
•Briefs speakers, video interviewees, moderators and chairmen on presenting content, length, and format.
•Reviews interviewees’ and speakers’ presentations and provides guidance and feedback on content and design
•Organizes pre-event calls between speakers and moderators, coordinates speakers and program execution on site.
•Coordinate additional content associated with events, such as web content, and working with video producer, ensures live event content results in excellent video products
•Work with the entire Events team to execute quality events.
•Coordinate content-driven social media campaigns
•Liaise with outsourced programming resources where applicable
•Deliver original and high-quality programming to a pre-determined time frame, securing top-level speakers which resonate in the market and satisfy quality measures among event participants, web users, and sponsors as measured by quantitative and qualitative evaluation.
•Ensure projects and tasks are completed to strict deadlines
•Build successful relationships with Economist editors, sales and marketing teams and top-name speakers
•Manage the smooth running of video and event production and effective briefing of all team members involved in the events.

Skills and capabilities profile
Education and training
• BA required
Previous work experience
• 5-8 years of experience in journalism, event programming, and/or high-level television production (thought leadership preferred)
Knowledge and skills
• Experience of developing and designing a wide range of high-quality content-led programmes
• Confidence of dealing with speakers and programme participation at the highest-level (business gurus, government ministers, CEOs etc)
• Understanding the formats and themes for events which resonate with both paying and by invitation audiences.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial team oriented environment.

Economist Events lead the debate in pursuit of progress by developing and delivering world-class content, ideas and learning experiences to an audience of globally-minded executives and thought-leaders – the “ideas people”. Convened around topics and business functions close to the Economist brand such as financial services, healthcare, innovation, human capital, as well as the developing markets, the events deliver The Economist’s brand vision across a range of different live meeting formats.
The Content and Program Manager role is responsible for the design, production, and execution of all content for Economist Events, including high-profile marquis events, custom events, and sponsored sessions. We are looking for a highly creative, experienced and commercially-minded producer who is capable of understanding, building, and communicating new and existing events.
He/she should be able to manage multiple stakeholders including attendees, sponsors, and magazine/EIU journalists, as well as deliver valuable experiences that result in core business takeaways for attendees. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a creative mind, a deep understanding of the trends guiding business and industry covered in The Economist, a natural sense of urgency and a wide ranging curiosity about how to translate Economist Events into compelling experiences. He/she will be a discerning judge of what constitutes a quality in terms of content and presentation.
