Job Requirements Duties:
Develop and maintain relationships with press contacts.
Develop creative pitches and place articles in approved media outlets.
Organize press previews for certain exhibitions, art fairs or other gallery events.
Propose methods for capturing new editorial opportunities to promote awareness of the gallery's artists and exhibitions program.
Research, write and edit press releases, artist biographies, and other collateral press materials.
Consistently update all press materials including the press archives, press kits, website and Press Room.
Respond to incoming Public Relations inquiries.
Ensure gallery website is kept consistently updated with news, press releases, artist information and upcoming exhibitions.

Experience/Skills Required:
BA Degree in Art History, Communications or related field.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of Public Relations experience within the arts (not including internships).
In-depth knowledge of modern and contemporary artists required.
Proven success in dealing with media and managing public relations functions.
Ability to interact effectively with and gain the confidence of senior management.
Excellent interpersonal, writing, organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a larger team.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
