Job Requirements The over-arching purpose of this position is two-fold:
Media Relations and Digital (online) Communication Support including maintenance and updates of http://www.assurant.com/ and monitoring of Contact Us mailbox XCOMM collaboration site, Twitter support for news releases, distribution of news releases through outside provider(s), compilation and analytic review of news media lists and media coverage, writing, proofreading and editing,other team projects as assigned
Assurant Foundation Coordination and Implementation of enterprise-wide giving programs including Assurant Employee Matching Gifts, direct charitable grants, United Way enterprise-wide payroll deduction (Truist) website and reports, New York Assurant office United Way campaign coordination, and special philanthropic and volunteer mobilization efforts as needed.
Areas of Accountability
Provide strategic communications counsel in collaboration with supervisor and colleagues to activate and update effective use of online and collaborative tools such as: XComm Collaboration site; Assurant Employee Matching Gifts and Grants website; United Way enterprise-wide payroll deduction (Truist) Campaign website; http://www.assurant.com/ content with special support for the Newsroom and Corporate Social Responsibility representation
Write and edit key corporate communications documents, as assigned, including FAQs, step-by-step guides, fact sheets, briefs, news releases, guidelines, biographies
Coordinate assigned Assurant Foundation day-to-day operations, administrative and compliance requirements, as well as quarterly dashboards and other reporting for the Assurant Foundation Trustees and senior leadership. Develop and update protocols to ensure continuity and clear understanding of various Corporate Communications functions and processes

Requirements of Position
Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related and applicable field of study Knowledge and Skills: Minimum 5 years experience in communications or related field at a Public Relations Agency or for a corporation or non-profit organization.
Proven technical and communication skills
Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
Solid computer skills and experience using EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint and other applications
Excellent communication skills (especially written and oral)
Ability to manage a variety of tasks and multiple priorities in a timely manner so that all deadlines are met
Experience working with the media and non-profit organizations
Proactive approach to creating and publishing communications
Well-developed project management skills
