||We are seeking a full-time Advertising and Sponsorship Sales Manager to focus on securing advertising and sponsorship revenues for our publications and events. This position will be based in our San Francisco office. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY. The ideal candidate will have experience in and be responsible for prospecting, identifying opportunities, building new business relationships, and generating revenue for the Burrill Media Group products. This includes book sales, advertising inserts and sponsorships for its publications and conferences. Focused on growing existing accounts and acquiring new clients, this position will be primarily placing outbound sales calls (to include cold-calls), conducting face-to-face meetings, making sales presentations, and prospecting. This position requires a successful sales track record, B2B and relationship sales experience. You will join a dynamic group of seasoned professionals to build the business and move it to the next level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop new and incremental business by proactively seeking out new clients and delivering customized packages to meet their needs. Focus on bringing in blue chip advertisers.
o Prospect and develop key advertising relationships with companies directly by utilizing telephone solicitation, electronic and written correspondence and face-to-face meetings to reach and exceed stated publications and events revenue targets.
o Responding to sales inquiries from new and existing customers.
o Develop creative sponsorship packages that are innovative and effective for clients who want marketing-needs driven programs outside of banners and buttons.
Negotiate agreement terms and maintain ongoing communication to assure execution of contract deliverables and maximize opportunities.
Employ aggressive sales techniques to move the sales process towards closing new and renew business in a timely manner.
Manage the sales territory for existing business by maintaining excellent client relationships with existing and potential Burrill clients.
Maintaining the companys contact database with up-to-date contact and accurate activity details, producing monthly sales reports.
Assist with developing promotional Marketing and Sales materials.
Identify opportunities for upcoming products and for enhancement of existing products.
Monitoring and reporting the potential collaborators and competitor activities and identifying business threats and opportunities.
Maintain knowledge of industry events, conferences, and trade shows and participate and promote Burrill as appropriate.
Negotiate co-promotion agreements with publications, conference organizers, and associations
Skills and Specifications
Verifiable track record of successful advertising and sponsorship sales.
Expertise in establishing and delivering upon stated goals.

Good communication, writing, effective presentation, and customer service skills.

Education and Qualifications
BA or equivalent degree
Work experience in relevant industry sponsor and advertising sales.
Successful sales track record
B2B and relationship sales experience
Experience with life sciences is a plus, but not necessary.
