Job Requirements Gorgias Press LLC, an independent academic publishing house based in Piscataway NJ, seeks to fill an entry-level position for a Marketing and Editorial Assistant. We are looking for a creative marketing professional who will thrive in a dynamic small business environment and thus seek candidates who are proactive, computer-savvy, able to multi-task, hard-working, dedicated, and detail-oriented. This is an ideal position for recent college graduates or young professionals with minimal experience.


Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word, Publisher, and Excel.
Knowledge or proficiency in Adobe products, specifically Adobe Professional, InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop are a big plus.
BA degree in history, English, or any subject within the humanities.
Some personal or professional experience with designing graphics and images.
Strong writing skills are essential, including excellent knowledge of grammar and punctuation, and a keen eye for detail.
Basic knowledge of HTML text editing.
Familiarity with the press’s subject areas of interest are a huge benefit, but are not required.
Excellent communication skills are a requirement - you must be a team player!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Generating leaflets, brochures, e-mail blasts, newsletters, and other advertising materials.
Serve as assistant to Editor-in-Chief in various capacities, including (but not limited to) production, quality-assurance checking, title management, and editing.
Representing the press at academic conferences and exhibits.
Managing marketing and sales activities (e.g. coordinating exhibits, direct mail/email campaigns, drafting sales letters, coordinating semi-annual sales).
Designing and creating printed catalogs.
Researching and tracking new marketing possibilities.

The position is 30-40 hours per week, and will remain open until filled.
