Job Requirements The contractor will be a key player in the campaign communications office and is the individual who will:
•Assist the campaign communications director in meeting the demanding 2013 publications calendar;
•Be responsible for keeping, at any given time, a wide number of campaign communications projects, in multiple media, on schedule;
•Make it possible for the writer/editor/project managers, and the graphic designer, to focus on their professional skill areas;
•Work closely with outside vendors providing graphic design, printing, video production, photography, and other services.

The following list is some of the types of projects the contractor will coordinate:
• 2012 Smithsonian Annual Report (60 pages)
• Approximately twenty campaign Case Statements (14-20 pages each)
• Mini-cases
• Pitch sheets
• Giving opportunities
• Campaign newsletter
• Campaign videos
• Campaign public website
• Fundraising proposals
• Event invitations
• Event collateral
• Other projects

The contractor should be able to demonstrate experience and/or skills in areas including the following:
•Experience and superior skills in trafficking and coordinating print, online, video, photography, and other communications media services;
•Good working background and familiarity with commercial printing, graphic design process, video production, photography, website design, online content management;
•Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate multiple parties to achieve deadlines;
•Understand priorities, can work in a fast-changing environment, make good judgments under pressure;
•Strong people/communications skills. Demonstrated success working as a liaison coordinating among writers, editors, designers, photographers, printers, marketing staff, information officers and others at multiple locations;
•Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-starter, initiative taker, able to work independently and with limited supervision. Problem-solver who enjoys creating new systems and procedures;
•Experience working in a large organization;
•Familiarity with non-profits, fundraising communications, and fundraising campaigns;
•Can work in both PC and Mac environments. Thoroughly familiar with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
About Our Company Th position will be with the Office of Campaign Communications within the Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Advancement, for technical professional, non-personal services to perform the duties of a campaign communications traffic and production coordinator. The Office of Advancement is the central fundraising office for the Smithsonian. This position is based in the Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The position supports the campaign communications team, which consists of the director campaign communications, writer/editor/project managers, a graphic designer, and an administrative support person.
