Job Requirements Summary of Position

The Planned Parenthood Information Services department supports the organization's work by providing reliable and scalable applications and technology services for the national office and affiliates. in support of health care delivery, sexual and reproductive health education, advocacy, fundraising and internal operations.

We're looking for a seasoned project management leader who wants to contribute to the mission of Planned Parenthood. This position will be responsible for building out the nascent project management practice within the IS division, establishing efficient project management and communication methods and supervising 3-6 project managers. This is a challenging position which requires strong ownership and excellent interpersonal skills. The Director of Project Management will report to the Senior Director, Information Services and work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts, product owners, technical staff and IS senior management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership

* Lead the project management team from its existing, solid foundation to a sophisticated, highly regarded team that serves the entire enterprise

* Establish a set of standards, processes and templates for consistent execution of project management functions

* Deliver user-focused solutions on time and on budget by effectively coordinating with all
IS teams and business stakeholders

* Participate in the technology project prioritization process, including fiscal year and quarterly planning, to ensure the greatest business value is being provided in the most timely manner

* Hire, train and supervise a team of project managers and manage the team's work assignments

* Evangelize the project management function and overall SDLC to teams outside ISProject Management

* Build relationships with key business stakeholders and develop an understanding of business processes and systems used by PPFA and affiliates across the US

* Manage the planning and execution of project activities; identify risks and mitigation strategies

* Work closely with technical leads on detailed designs and estimates for all technology initiatives

* Conduct vendor assessments and manage vendor relationships; establish best practices

* Maintain a work backlog and ensure the ongoing prioritization of deliverables and resources

* Manage budget estimation and tracking

* Communicate frequently with project stakeholders; write and present regular project status reports

* Review prototypes and help coordinate User Acceptance Testing, to ensure that products meet the needs of end users

* Facilitate the creation of user documentation and training materials

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 6 years of professional work experience as a project manager for web or software products, and at least 3 years managing staff

* Experience with large-scale, cross-functional technology projects

* Proficiency with multiple project management approaches, including Serum

* Opinions about how best to create and instill new processes in a nonprofit organization

* Vendor analysis and vendor management experience

* Demonstrated competence in managing budgets

* Experience communicating with business stakeholders at all levels

* Familiarity with line of business applications and standard administrative operations

* Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to effectively liaise with colleagues on all levels in a distributed, multicultural, detail-oriented environment (without losing a sense of humor)

* Strong proficiency with MS Office 2007/2010 and Google Apps

* Top-notch writing, presentation and meeting facilitation skills (finalists will be tested)

* Process orientation with phenomenal attention to detail

* Fast learner, creative problem solver

* Proficiency with the Atlassian suite (Jira, GreenHopper, Confluence, etc.)

This is a full-time position at our New York, NY office. Relocation assistance is not available. Limited travel is possible.
