NJBIZ seeks a journalist to bring a wider audience to our daily and weekly reporting on NJBIZ.com.
This is a job for a news junkie who can work seamlessly with our print team to build online exposure to our newspaper articles, wield social media to expand our audience in areas like Facebook and Twitter, and seek out and write stories for our online operations. Working with the managing editor, you’ll be tasked with keeping our daily online newsletter relevant in a sea of worthy competitors by writing and posting content, and overseeing e-newsletter delivery. You’ll have to be quick, accurate and driven to break news on our site. You’ll have to be an expert on AP style; we want you to be giving content in print and online a final look before it goes to the masses. You’ll also need to know basic HTML and should be familiar with Saxotech; if you’re already an expert, we’ll consider that a plus.
It’s not enough to know what a hashtag is. If you’re applying for this job, you should be able to tell us what we need to do better to build meaningful relationships with readers through our website and social media. We’ll be disappointed if you walk into an interview and your only suggestion is to use Storify more.
Candidates should have at least two years’ journalism experience, ideally at a business website or publication. The position is based in our Somerset office.
