Job Requirements The Executive Director, Development - West Coast leads digital business development efforts in the region, including identifying, developing and supporting strategic partnerships that will deliver significant value to the business. This includes sourcing potential deals, negotiating agreements, and managing the resulting relationships. This position reports into the Vice President, NYTimes.com Strategy and Planning, and plays an important role in helping shape long-term strategy.


- Lead business development initiatives for The New York Times on the west coast

- Engage regularly with existing and prospective partners, e.g. Google, Facebook, Microsoft, to keep The Times top of mind

- Share The Times’ product roadmap and elicit the same from partners to find meaningful opportunities for product innovation

- Develop strong ties with the venture capital and startup community in the digital media space to identify trends and investment themes

- Help shape and support strategies for digital growth at The New York Times, including video, mobile and social

- Focus on relationships that have the potential to drive significant revenue, i.e. advertising, subscriptions, licensing or other


- 8+ years of relevant digital media experience

- Deep network in Silicon Valley

- Proven track record of results-oriented performance

- Strategic mindset

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- MBA preferred
